I doubt Ed has even logged on to twitter or even seen a myspace page. Its all set up by his publists (wife). If he updates twitter like they update the Van Halen web site your gonna be waiting a looooooooooooooooooonnnng time to get any info out of that. I so love this band but they are just horrible at press and keeping the fans informed. I also agree with Scottso that Ed is very evasive about the state of the band. I hate hearing how he has all this music in him. At this point whatever dude. It been over 10 years since the last album. I will be 1st in line to buy a new album but I doubt it will even happen. Saying that Im gonna log on and buy some EVH shoes!! And Ed probably laughs at my 59.99 all the way to the bank.

Well, Its obviously working! The Media blitz his wife is about to unleash I am speaking of. No doubt this women has got her shit together and wants to help her man, but as I have said on other post. “I just dont think its very Rock N Roll” I say let the music speak for itself!
I personally just never thought Van Halen as this type of band, but who am I to say!
If your out there making records and your touring as a real band then I can kind of see this type of thing helping the band.
Again, I say. If it acts like a band and walks like a band then it must be a band.

I’m sure other bands have done the same thing. And, what are you disspelling- the fact that this is news? Because no one is solely blaming VH, but if you think that they didn’t know, than you are a fool. I was at the first show in Charlotte- it was electric. While, VH will always be the greatest band of all time to me- this is rather shady.

Someone mentioned above that Ed said the band was currently recording. Um, no they are not. It is noted that they plan on hitting the studio in December. And an album release late Spring to early-mid Summer.

I just don’t get VH. They disappear for months if not years at a time, promise new music, tours, etc. I realized the other day I went to see the VH F.U.C.K. tour and basically saw the SAME songs played in 2007/2009! No new music to speak of (VH3 - which I actually thought had some decent music - doesn’t count) for a over a DECADE. A DECADE! That’s 10+ YEARS for all of you keeping score at home! Yet they say they are “dedicated to their fans” and Eddie has “hundreds of songs ready to record.” I go to their website: it hasn’t been updated since April. Oh, but now they are going to keep us posted by Twitter…er, but they haven’t done it yet - stay tuned!
Compare this to: A few nights ago I went and saw AC/DC. This band is on the road touring so fans CAN ACTUALLY SEE THEM PERFORM, hear NEW MUSIC, and enjoy the library of hits they’ve had. THEY ROCKED for 2 1/2 HOURS…hit after hit pounding the 30,000+ fans (from 5 years old to 60!) who came out to see them. No BS 15 minute solos by each band member so they could run back and have a smoke - it was “crank it up and let if rip!”
I was never a huge AC/DC fan until the last few years when their willingness to let their fans have a look at them every now and again won me over.
P.S. I heard Dave was spotted at a malt shop in Santa Monica (extra thick strawberry), I heard Wofie got “Boggle” at his graduation party, and Ed wore a silk shirt at his wedding! My question is: why do we VH fans have to BEG to hear anything about the band? The bigger questions are: Can these guys still make music? Were their best days from 1978 - 1992? Are they going to do something to become relevant again, or are they just going play the same music that baby boomers played in high school parking lots and backyard bar-b-ques? Reviving old memories may work for one tour (last year) but fewer and fewer will be willing to part with $100 to hear the same songs they heard last time.

bands since forever,(i remember when Bon Scott died-yeah
i`m that old)but they NEVER came to my state,-Still no reason to hold a grudge though,+when i last checked,
it took about 10yrs for them to release an album&tour
Without dealing with things like,CANCER,DIVORCE,REHAB,
HAND SURGERY,etc.
You basically saw the same songs on the F.U.C.K tour as
the Last Tour????

mk014, well said. I love them, but give me a break. Rehab/cancer/divorce can very much be the seed for new music, it’s called life, we all have to deal with it. 10 years between albums only says to me that Ed is more interested in becoming a nostalgia act, or more likely he really doesn’t care what people think of him or the band. I don’t care who sings for them or plays bass, (or who manufactures his geetars) just play the damn guitar. On a side note, Alex is hands down one of the best rock drummers of all time, and it’s a crying shame we don’t get to hear him either. Whatever, life goes on.
A live DVD would be a nice holdover though.

Ok. One last comment on this website for the rest of my lifetime.
ONE: Did you think about the fact that Dave and Ed had many fights and difficulties in the past? Maybe the idea or the deal they’ve had is that Ed writes the music, then tells his brothers and son what to play on it, rehearse, THEN calls Dave to find a melody and lyrics. To me, it would be the best way to avoid any objections from Dave while they work on the music. Ed said it many times while talking about Jump for instance. Dave can’t write music. So he should trust Eddie, who has proven to the entire World he is a good songwriter.
Then, if you don’t like Twitter, just go on with you (empty) lives, and come here often, because this website is absolutely amazing in following the VH related news.
So go back at your mediocre lives, and try to treat your paranoia with pills or the help of a shrink.
Eddie Van Halen said MANY MANY MANY TIMES that the band was a new VH, that Dave was his brother, that the lineup was going to stay this way, so pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease stop vomiting your stupid comments here.

Personally,all Ive ever cared about since 1984 is Dave. If they turn around and blow it with him, i will never give a shite about the band again. wont listen,wont buy anything, wont go see them,wont f@$kin care.i hope theres others out there who feel the same way.I saw every tour dave was on. Ide go see Dave waaaaaaay before a Van halen show.Eddie has diappointed me numerous times with his drunken sloppy ass playing.one tour he’s great. the next he sucks. not one time did i feel that way with Dave. Yeah, what a great website. The last entry was in April and - surprise - it was Eddie trying to sell something else with red, white and black stripes. He’s working on a Frankenstein jock strap. It will be the websites next entry in time for the christmas rush. Also, notice on the site the only album covers displayed are from 25 years ago or more…
Ignoring the bands past like it doesn’t exist. “Van Halen is a new band” but all we’ll recognize of our history is the 25 year old stuff!
For those ready to flame me and ask why I’m hanging out on this site: I’ve seen VH 14 times in ALL configurations of singers. I did not see them last year because when they dropped MA as bassist I said forget it. I’ve bought many albums 2, 3 and some 4 times - vinyl, cassette, CD, re-masters. I’m a HUGE fan. But I’ve lost patience. There are plenty of bands out there who want to strap it on and PLAY!

I have been a fan since I was a teenager, VH’s music has changed singers, but hasn’t changed their sound. They can still pack in a full house, and as long as they keep touring I’ll keep going to see their shows.I would like to hear more about what they are doing, but I also believe that all members of the band do have a right to keep their personal life put of the spotlight.

I have seen VH every tour since ‘84. I always wish for one more album and one more tour to see the greatest guitarist on earth. Like all of us, someday it will stop. Enjoy it now. Ed is king.
