  1. John R says:

Ok! I am very happy the kid is doing somthing on his own. Which he should be! I cant stand the selection of songs but he is a kid!

With that said, He should in no way be playing in VH even if he is a Van Halen, especially after watching these vids.

Ed, if there is any snowballs chance in hell you read these things, please please bring Mike back and if that is not an option atleast bring someone like Billy Sheehan on board.

If you care anything about his future as a musician, he needs to find himself and needs to create his own legacy.

I am almost embarressed to think he will actually be making a VH album with you and then touring the world to support it. He does not belong in the band! He is obviously talented but he needs to get his own band and do his own thing.

To watch these videos and then imagine him in the studio with Dave, Alex and Ed writing about things he probably has never even experienced is ming blowing to me!

I mean is it just me, I am I wrong??? Someone please clue me in. Again I am not knocking the kid I just dont think he belongs in The VH we all know and love! I hope he does his own thing and becomes very succesful just not in VH!

  2. Joe says:

He can’t be in two bands at once!

  3. MA=VH says:

Interesting find. These videos got me thinking:
*Not bad for high school kids but nowhere near the quality of Wolf’s last gig.
*Maybe Wolfie’s not really a bassist after all…
*Christ, I wonder if they get to rehearse at 5150 studios…
*There’s no way Wolf’s background vocals on the last tour were live…
*This is what Wolf should really be doing…
*Did proud papa Ed shoot the video?…
*Wonder how many agents are keeping an eye on this kid…
*Did I leave the iron on?…

    MA=VH

  4. RANDY says:

you’re not knocking him… you’re just putting him in the wrong corner… he’s the only one doing good in that band he’s playing in. it’s not a serious band it’s just for fun just like when eddie fills in with other artists… all i can say is the singer on that pap roach song is the worst i have heard… he’s not even trying.

  5. fiestared says:

well according to eddies logic, hes out of VH now, he actually dared to take the stage with a group of people that arent van halen…..

  6. UKDave says:

Wolfie…congrats on a great performance, from what I’ve seen you’ve come on leaps and bounds in both confidence and stage presence.

Do what your heart tells you…I believe you’ve got a great deal of energy to put in to Van Halen and I think that what the band is doing is just fine by me. The band seems to be coming out of a very fragile period and taking baby steps towards becoming the great band it was again.

I understand everyones frustration in there not being any new (decent) material in a long time but I don’t think there’s any need to be in a rush!

Keep going, keep growing and if you do read anything on this site please don’t take it to much to heart!

PS..give your Dad and Uncle a nudge to come over and play some smallish venues in the UK on your next tour please!

  7. Kevin says:

You guys are all idiots…..who wouldn’t want to play with their dad at 18 years old around the world on the biggest stage, oh and i forgot, your dad would be the greatest guitar player ever arguably (not really arguably)…..hmmm so grind it out in a pub/bar with no names or play with one of the greatest tandems in music history? alex and eddie, and throw in one of the greatest front men ever.

  8. SCAR says:

Think about this, WVH may be the kick in the butt that his dad needs to stay motivated to record and actually release something. It will be interesting to see what WVH brings to the table with his dad, uncle and DLR in the studio. Will it be worth the wait? Who knows, we all hope so!!!!

  9. lucky says:

Sounds great for high school age kids. Kudos to Wolfie.

  10. HokeyPokey says:

I guess even kids who have toured the world want to jam out for the chicks at their school.

  11. Chomsky5150 says:

Yeah, I don’t like the choice of tunes either, but this is pop music in today’s age…I mean look at what Eddie was playing when he was Wolfie’s age…they had over a 200+ song repertoire playing all the hits during their time…anyway I think the kid did pretty good and it just goes to show he has the musical capacity to play just about anything…from being on a national tour with the world’s greatest rock band to some young high school garage-style band playing at a small venue. I’m sure he’s a lot more talented than what is shown in these videos…keep up the good work Wolfie. I just wish your dad would play some music too…I mean NEW music…preferably within this lifetime.

    Peace

  12. Skutch says:

Good for Wolf. He’s can do whatever the heck he wants. He’s the man!!!

  13. Guitar Zero says:

I do believe I spied MA off stage with some sort of blunt object in hand.

  14. Doug says:

Look’s like maybe Ed’s preparing to give Diamond the “boot” again???

  15. Glen Cunnington says:

You know i understand this guy. Who the hell wants to wait to play music. To all u h8rs at least hes doing something!

  16. Patrick says:

Wolfgang is a great instrumentalist, but I find it hilarious that he’s playing a PRS instead of a Wolfgang.

  17. steve says:

guys come on! you read into way too much

  18. steve says:

it’s kinda a catch 22. on one hand, i also feel this is what wolfgang should be doing. Playing with kids his age and finding his own “trip.” but on the other hand, there’s little doubt that w/o wolfgang’s prodding we wouldn’t have gotten that VH tour at all.

  19. vh purist says:

I didn’t think people were allowed to play in another band if you were in VH? Doesn’t the michael anthony rule apply here?

I agree i don’t think it was his backround vocals on the last tour…..i think it is Mike’s piped through the PA

  20. DLR says:

Thanks Joe, you can’t be in 2 bands according to EVH. And yes, the PRS is interesting. He does sing pretty good though. I believe I read somewhere that he is actually best on the drum kit. Like everybody says, if it weren’t for Wolf, there would be no new VH anything. At least that is the way it seems.

  21. Shawn says:

People get over all of this crying. Mike is doing great in Chickenfoot. Wolf is obviously doing well with his dad. I think all involved are over it. We should be too. I hope we get a new VH album soon as Ed promised. Wolfie will gain massive experience working with VH. I hope Wolf is allowed to grow and have his own band as well as work with his family.

  22. Steve says:

That kid’s got major talent. I would love to hear some original stuff someday.

  23. Big AL says:

The FUTURE of Van Halen is in GREAT HANDS!!! It must really piss off all the people who said Wolfie wasn’t “playing or singing on the last tour” that “Mike’s vocals were piped in” Now they have to face the TRUTH.

    3 PARTS ORIGINAL + 1 PART INEVIDABLE!!!!!!!!

Wolfgang, the TRUE Van Halen FANS, Thank You!!

  24. VH Dude says:

Nice to see Wolfie headbanging in the second clip. He’s still young and needs to find himself. The best we can hope for is that he doesn’t read these boards and worry too much about what we think. Most of us are in denial (myself included) and want to see MA back in the band. But it just isn’t going to happen. Like it or not, with the resurgence of hard and classic rock and Guitar Hero/Rock Band there is a new and young audience that digs Van Halen (that’s a good thing) and they will accept Wolfie. It might be blasphemy…but that’s how it is. As Scar says, maybe Wolfie will motivate dad.

It was also cool to see him playing guitar. No need to compare him to his dad or MA. Hope to see more attitude and confidence as time goes by. Give him a fucking break… Do you think he expected his high school art fair to end up on the VHND? This is somewhat of a personal thing for him, even if he is a Van Halen- we’re just lucky someone posted it online.

Rock on Wolfie! Do your thing and tell everyone that doesn’t like it to fuck off.

  25. swade says:

Well considering that he was singing a song that required little to know talent to sing, it doesnt show tat he has any kind of a voice but he plays really well while he sings. Thats no small feet. Maybe he should give the song Dreams from 5150 a shot and then we can call him great.

  26. Skutch says:

Wrong guys, MIKE can’t be in two bands (specifically bands which tour under the name SANS Halen). Besides since when do the brothers or Wolfie have to justify any decisions they make.

Shawn is totally right. MIke is better off. I just don’t understand why people are so worked up about something years after the fact. Steve speaks much wisdom as well. Quit trying to read so much into everything. It’s like people on this sight seem to forget that they foursome just banked 93 mil on the last tour. They’re more concerned with just enjoying life than worrying about what a bunch of nerds on this site say. LOL

  27. frattz5150 says:

great job wolf the songs are lame but who cares ur rocking out in a different light its good to see the kid jamming. man give him a break at least hes out there doing what he loves not many of us can say that. hes just a kid let him be one. come on anyone can play bass in vh its like 3 notes and it worked all these years hes gonna do just fine good luck bro!!

  28. JD says:

Really cool! I’d like to see him carry on the Van Halen name onto the next generation. Idk though. I’d want the sound to be just like the old van halen, but perhaps he doesn’t want to do that. :/ Great guitarist, good singer, talent definetly runs in that family.

  29. Brian G says:

Well, I think it’s just cool as hell to see the next generation Van Halen up there. Hopefully, once dad and uncle finally call it quits for good, Wolfie brings some good stuff on his own to the table.

  30. SCAR says:

I hear you Brain G, WVH couldn’t ask for any better mentors!!! Now if only WVH could find a young kid out there with that DLR WOW factor and killer showmanship style to be his singer when the torch gets passed, that generation’s VH will also be legendary!!!!

  31. Jorge says:

well, it was a shame that he didn’t use the instrument name after him; why not endorse his father instrument. what a great time to show the versatility of the instrument. i agree with others that mike should be back or billy.

  32. Kimberly says:

Some people on here need to chill haha. He is just jamming! Nothing serious you know? Props to Wolfie, I like his voice. And cool that he is rockin’ out the guitar! I definitely see talent.

    VH <3

  33. walteR says:

    Kimberly should put a pic up,…. I bet she’s a hottie!!!!

  34. Guitar Zero says:

    “My name is Ron!”

  35. Chad says:

How do any of you know that Wolfie has great talent? He has yet to show anyone what he can really do. His singing in these videos is a bit light in the loafers and his guitar playing is just 3-chord bullshit. Maybe someday he’ll step up and prove what his dad’s been bragging about him for years. Until then, I reserve judgement on the “genius” that is Wolfgang Van Halen.

And I agree with the first poster, in VH is not where a (chubby) 18-year old kid belongs.

  36. Wow says:

Is this what we have to look forward to? Can you guys dig up some footage of the talent show in 6th grade too?

No dig on Wolfman, but the guy still has some maturing to do as a musician and vocalist to become great. He should go off and do his own thing trying to make it. As a bass player for Van Halen, he will not develop as his own musician, but an extension of what Eddie wants. I would think, and this is me typing out loud, that Wolf would be writing originals and playing stuff that we hadn’t heard from this young band.

There is such a gap in generations and his understanding of classic R&R that I’m afraid he may have fallen in a trap. He likes the overproduced, overdubbed, and overblown candy rock of today. It’s one thing to be Eddy’s kid, it’s another totally different thing to understand and like the music of your daddy’s era. I didn’t like my dad’s music until I got older, at least in my 30’s.

From a great REM song…”Another prop, to occupy my time” seems to be Van Halen in our modern world.

Some of this shit is satire in the making…

  37. blake says:

Chad, well spoken! he’s still a young kid. These kids listen to these crappy 3 chord songs bouncing around like a bunch of retards, but thats whats in unfortunetly. We all thought at one time that “eddies kid is gonna be the shit”. I have yet to see wolfie amaze me.The only thing I can remember is the tapping in atomic punk last tour.big deal, woopdee doo. don’t expect too much out of this kid.He will not be like his dad.

  38. Jimbob says:

So, when Chickenfoot gets mentioned on here, it’s cool to scream, “This aint’ the Chickenfoot News Desk!” but when a high school band is on here, those same people are totally cool with things?
    Ah. Right. Gotcha.

  39. Pete says:

I know this place lends itself to more extreme positions, but I’m going to try to get my point across without being a dick:

    - Wolf reminds me of being a young teenager and trying to play in public. You’re competent on your instrument, but scared to death of being in front of people. So you stare at your microphone. I remember that well.

    - Not everyone is cut out to be a great musician or performer. I count myself as being a “competent” musician. Wolf has some talent for sure, but I don’t think he’s a caterpillar that’s one day going to turn into a magnificent butterfly. I think what we see is pretty much what we’ll get. (We all get better over time, but…)

    - I give credit to the kid that did the Papa Roach song. He couldn’t sing very well, but at least he was “selling it”. At least he moved around and looked like he was into it.

I feel kind of weird about “reviewing a teenager” as young as Wolf, so I hope you can appreciate the restraint. If I was scouting for talent I’m not sure I’d look to Wolf as the next big thing.

In many ways I think it’s unfair that Wolf is in VH. All that scrutiny, and you’re still a teenager…I can’t imagine what that must be like! That’s a hell of a thing to hang on a teen - there’s a lot of expectations that come with wearing that beautiful VH badge on your arm, let alone your last name.

We just saw a kid perform at a school dance. This is the same kid I saw on stage with VH. It just feels weird to me.

But I think it’s wrong for Eddie to hype his son the way he does, because he’s seeing what a father sees. And who can blame anyone for being proud of his son?

I have to be honest. If I had a say (and I clearly don’t) I would prefer to see Mike in VH, though I wouldn’t if I was him. Therefore, bring on Billy Sheehan. He really impresses me all around. (Backup singing and bass.) Let Wolf be a kid, and find his own way. VH should be all about badd-ass playing and showmanship.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Pete

  40. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

    Rock on wolf!

  41. Troy Con says:

Call me crazy but, hearing Wolfie play guitar and sing got the fur on my arms to stand a little bit. I would bet money he can play the heck out of a guitar. Liked his singing on the first one, fairly general but, I thought it was great.

Wolfie is the bass player in Van Halen. End of story.

Hope we hear him jam on guitar with EVH sometime.

  42. Dave says:

He’s probably a total ass to his bandmates… “Well, that’s now how we did it when I was on a WORLD TOUR last year.” (something that, in my opinion, he had no business being a part of). I’m wondering if he’s just a chip off the old block.

For the record, I have no problem with this little “practice jam session” that wolfie is a part of, I’m merely saying that he should choose his path. If he’s going to be in Van Halen, he certainly shouldn’t be jamming with “friends”. But, then again, I guess this just exposes EVH and AVH as hypocrites again because they wouldn’t let Sam be in a side-project without raising a huge fuss, but, hey, who’s to judge. This goes to show that blood is thicker than water.

  43. John says:

I can totally understand that Eddie wants to hang out and play music with his kid. It’s helping get through his problems. However, I do not think Wolfgang should be a full time member of the band. I liked they way they did it in 2004 with him jumping on stage for Eddie’s solo. Maybe extend that to a song or two and maybe do the same on a new CD(longshot of ever happening)

  44. nick says:

Seeing Wolfgang sing and play guitar shows as far as I see things that he is way more at home on stage now.At the least this is good practice for him.Maybe next tour/album people won’t knock the boy so hard.I agree with most of you guys he needs to do his own thing. The boy has the skill, and I think if they do do an album just maybe he can bring back that classic VH fire from Ed,Al and Dave. Then again maybe he should just do this own thing, cause it seems like he very happy playing guitar as to the bass.

  45. RA 8 1 2 says:

He sounded OK for what it was. Maybe now he will start his own band and once chickenfoot finished their tour in October Mike will re join!

Oh yeah…any by the way, someone else posted two..thought you couldnt be in 2 bands or work on outside projects while in VH. I guess if your last name is Van Halen. Right Ed? Michael Jackson Beat it, Brian May Starfleet project, Alan Hallsworth producer, etc. There are a few more right Ed?

I love you Ed but you can be a f*cking hypocrite!

  46. SCAR says:

Well look what we have here, some so called VH fans who want to bash their guitar hero’s kid!! What’s the point of mentioning his weight eh Chad? Don’t be angry Chad because you went off of your Jenny Craig diet plan and now your a bigger fat slob then ever before(a blubbery 300lbs)!!!! Now, for you so called “expert musicians” who are slamming his talent, sounds to me that deep down inside your just jealous of the kid!!! You wish in your wildest dreams you could have talent and play the different instruments like he can (hmmm, if memory serves me correct, I believe he had the best teacher in the entire music world)!!! Duh, if you haven’t figured it out, he was just out having fun jamming with friends - hey, there’s that “fun” word agian!!! Maybe all of you so called musicians that slam WVH should go out and have some fun, try it, trust me, you’ll probably like it. On a final note, if you so called musicians are so talented, I say prove it, if your going to talk the talk then walk the walk!!! All you clowns should send a video of your attempt to play your instruments to this site, and a couple of things could happen, you could play pretty good and maybe EVH will discover you (I crack myself up) or the most probable outcome is that we will all just laugh at you some more (I bet even EVH loves a good chuckle every now and then)!!! Later rockstars!!!

  47. spencer says:

If Dave didn’t want Ed playing outside the band, how disgusted must he be now? (Keeping his mouth shut ’cause he needs the cash.) And when you thought things couldn’t get any worse than Cherone being in VH, now this. What a disgrace for the legacy of what was once the greatest rock band. Nothing against Wolf, it’s just that a kid being in his dad and uncle’s band is a mockery.

  48. phil says:

David Lee Roth who? Sammy Hagar who? Gary Cherone who? Wolfie sounds great! good job kid!

  49. Top Jimmy says:

This was good. This is what Wolfie should be doing, not playing in Van Halen.

  50. Jim says:

Sigh. Sammy - kicked out for jamming with others. Mike - kicked out for jamming with others.

To be honest however I think this is what Wolfie should be doing. At least someone with the Van Halen name is out jamming and making music.

  51. Erick says:

    Great job, Wolf!
You can just see that he’s going to be an artist in the future. Probably famous too. He’ll do well.

  52. David Alexander, Toulca Lake says:

The reality is the focus on Michael Anthony as being a focus of Van Halen is a fairly recent phenomenon.

No one in the 70’s or 80’s (old Van Halen’s prime) concentrated on Anthony when they went to live show.

does he has a high vocal range? yes
Was he a major part of the writing of Van Halen music. NO.

Go back and read the interviews around the Fair Warning time. Ed was already complaining that Anthony was not part of the writing process and Mike had been able to purchase cars and remodel his house on Ed’s music writing ability, yet was still given an equal share of the writing credit(and royalties).

Edward Van Halen AND Micheal Anthony made the same amount of money from Van Halen recordings and touring up until the last Van Halen CD when Anthony’s pay was reduced to a minority status. THE SAME AMOUNT. Without ever penning a song.
In most other bands, (The Beatles, Stones, Aerosmith, The Police) those who write take the credit and the royalty checks. With Van Halen it was ALWAYS all four members getting credit. Even though many songs were written without Michael.

Michael made out like a bandit. So Ed feels Mike did very well for himself, on Ed’s musical abilities and generosity. Micheal is a lucky man.

If Ed writes the music and then has to suggest to Michael what he wants him to play, why can’t he just do the same with his son.

You want to be indispensable Mike?? Be indispensable

  53. TheTruthHurts says:

    Dear David Lee Roth,
Van Halen is now a trio, thanks to the shining star that is my son who proved he can be an amazing lead singer, too. So, thanks for everything. And, remember, you can’t use the Van Halen name on anything you do, per our contract circa 2007.
    Thanks bunches,
    Ed

  54. RA 8 1 2 says:

Truth Hurts! LOLOLOLOLOL! F ing Great!!!!

  55. Kayser Sozay says:

If you think about the Wolfie/VH situation in the context of Ed and Wolfie’s love for each other, everything makes total sense. For all of Ed’s flaws as a human being, he’s never given anyone any basis to question his love for his son. Even Valerie would tell you that. Wolfie was his best man even!

So of course Ed wants to share with Wolfie the gift they both share (or that Ed gave him if you will) while Ed can still play. I would if I were him. I’m sure Wolfie loves playing with his Dad, too. Ed is also likely thinking about Wolfie’s future and wants to give him that exposure now with VH so that he has an easier time making it on his own later when Ed hangs it up for good. (I realize that logic only works if the band actually makes music and gets out there, etc. but in theory at least…)

So give Ed and Wolf a break people. We should all be so lucky to share God-given gifts with our fathers and have the kind of relationship where you want to use those gifts together while you can. I’ll bet if asked, Ed would tell you he is more proud of playing with Wolfgang than of any of his other contributions to music. And while I’ve slagged on Ed as much as anyone for some of his bad choices, I’ll always admire him for that.

While I miss Mike as much as any VH fan, I think all is right with the world that he is having great success with Chickenfoot and seems to be very happy with how everything worked out. Ed should have just been honest from the beginning and said he booted Mike because he wanted to play with his son. Now, everything would be wonderful if we could get some new VH music soon.

  56. SCAR says:

Who really cares about all the personal VH drama from way back then? It’s the past, let it go!!! A lot of VH fans know regardless of who wrote what in the band, M.A. will always be a important part of the VH legacy!!! It’s cool that the Foot is around so we can here him jam and use his awesome background vocals again!!! More power to ya Mikey!!!

  57. Jim says:

Let Wolfie rock. What else do you expect him to do? And how many of you out there really have half the experience that Wolf does already? And stop being such snobs about the “three chord crap songs” of today! Hey, I’m a huge Halen fan but I love Green Day and the like too. Geez, you guys sound old and bitter to me!

  58. vincent says:

Wow. Seriously guys, GET A LIFE!! It’s absolutely pathetic to read some comments. Whining about a bassist that was fired from a band! Big deal!

You like Van Halen music? Then shut up, listen to it, and enjoy the fact that they are still alive, and willing to continue with DLR as a bonus!

You’re angry because you’re secretly in love with MA or simply don’t have a life? Burn or throw out all of your VH CDs AND STOP WHINING LIKE SPOILED KIDS!

Go find another band to bitch about!

Damn it makes me angry each time I come here to get news and read the same childish complaints over and over again!

THIS WEBSITE IS FOR FANS WHO WANT TO BE INFORMED ABOUT A BAND THEY LOVE.

  59. buzzkill says:

I dunno, to me it seems a little TMZ-stalker-ish to even be posting a video of anyone’s kid performing at a school sponsored event.

And to those of you coming down hard on Wolfie, wtf is wrong with you, he’s a kid, yeah, he’s EVH’s kid.. bfd.. he’s still just a kid.. lighten up and get a life for fuck’s sake.

  60. Vanicionado says:

Kayser… “While I miss Mike as much as any VH fan,”

Not ANY Kayser.. more like SOME VH Fans… more like SOME.

  61. Dawn says:

We hear stories here and there on what Eddie or Wolfgang is up to but what has Dave been doing? I don’t recall reading that he attended Eddie’s wedding or that he has been in the studio with them. I can only hope that they all get together and make more music.

  62. Hugo says:

    Wolfie isn’t playing a Wolfie guitar?!?! :P
    Rock on Wolfie!!!

  63. T.O. Mike says:

Nothing personal against the kid, but Wolfie is where he belongs in my opinion!!!

Bring Mikey back! And put him on Guitar Hero too!!

  64. Chicken Joe says:

God, you angry people sure do have a lot of hang-ups. As long as Mike is friends with Sam, he will not be in Van Halen. Deal with it. I thought Wolfie did a good job in these videos. And he definitely sang the backups on the last tour, apparently so well, that some of you idiots mistook them for “piped in” Michael Anthony backups. There’s a lot of bitter old heads on this site. Van Halens forever!

  65. mattharper says:

Hey..lol i read the last two post and still laughing at “hey you cant be in two bands” comment lol and right now its probably more of a real rock band that he is in now…we need original stuff.. letter rip boys!

  66. kenny says:

He’s only a Kid, I agree. But VH needs M.A. back, Please Ed suck it up an Bring him back in the band? Now u made 93 Million with Dave, JUST imagine if you TOUR and Record like the old DAYS, 120 Million easy!!!!!

  67. Dave says:

Granted Wolfie is a kid and you have to cut him some slack but my goodness , how the Mighty Van Halen have fallen…this is LAME!!!!!!!! And you Hagar haters complain about Chickenfoot…open your eyes.

  68. jrod 2009 says:

people, stop picking on wolf. He is just kid who is moe fortunate than you and I. Stop hating!

  69. SCAR says:

Look at all the haters here tonight, What a bunch of jealous punks!!! Man, be happy for the kid, it’s because of him, the possibility of a new VH album has increased!!! Before the rest of you haters try to slam the kid with more stupid remarks, you should refer to the post from jrod 2009, that post pretty much sums it all up!!! The truth hurts, doesn’t haters???

  70. Top Jimmy says:

My final thoughts on these videos is that it’s sad. Wolfie is 10 times more animated and “into it” in these videos than he was on the VH tour. I know, because I was there. And it doesn’t take a child psychologist to figure out that it’s because he’s playing with and for his friends and peers, instead of his Dad, his old Uncle and the crazy weird money machine from the past that has become Van Halen. I guarantee you he’s having more fun playing to these 100 kids than he did playing to the 16,000 that were there the night I saw them.

  71. TheTruthHurts says:

SCAR: That will be $.25 for gimmick infringement.

  72. wmarkl5150 says:

Most of you people are idiots! Why can’t you let the past go? Sammy’s gone, Mikey’s gone, Gary’s gone… I’m not the same person I was 30 years ago, I don’t have the same friends I had 30 years ago. Why cant Eddie & his family change and move into the future? If you don’t like what is going on in the VH camp… please move on to something else.

I will continue to support whatever project EVH comes out with. I’m just glad he’s still around after all of these years.

  73. lucky says:

Geez Top Jimmy, do ya think he could have been nervous? I’d like to see anybody onstage at 17 or 18 and not shit bricks, let alone on a monstrous VH tour with all that past as baggage, and the fact people would rather see Mike playing the bass. I’m sure that wasn’t lost on him. Idiots. Personally I think he was a little young to be jumping into, but oh well, he ain’t my kid. Yeah, I saw them too, he did fine for a first time out on a major tour, performing big venues, and playing music that was written before he was born for semi-hostile fans.

He did pretty good in those vids. He was having fun playing some covers, that’s it… good god, get a life.

  74. handymanrockstar84 says:

Way to go Wolfie! Let’s hear ya play some more guitar!! Sounded like good fun.

Hey I have an idea for Eddie… Let Mike play bass again, and Wolfie can play whatever the hell he wants to (whenever he wants to). His name is Van Halen, too folks. Keys,a little rhythm guitar here and there, the accordian… OK maybe not that last one. Sure we all miss Mikey, but Van Halen in ALL FORMS still includes Alex and Eddie. Don’t forget that after way to many years without him, we have Dave again. Wahooo!! Support your dutch-born virtuosos.

  75. SCAR says:

That’s the way to wave the VH Flag wmark5150, keep that bad boy flying high!!!! I hear ya TruthHurts, got change for a buck? Rock on boys!!!

  76. john says:

these videos are very good….interesting that he actually can sing. And for all the people who say he shouldnt be playing with VH, THINK ABOUT THIS…..he has been raised all of his life around music and around recording studios….he naturally can play well because he IS a Van Halen…..he is surrounded by nothing but good musical influences….he is more seasoned than the average musician even at this age…and he just finished a tour that proved to the world he could play

  77. Borch says:

To me, this video confirms that there is no way Wolfie was doing Michael Anthony’s harmony parts on tour. His vocals on The Middle are horrible. As Simon would say, pitchy. I guess I just really miss the original VH, sorry Edddie

  78. Chad says:

SCAR, show us evidence of Wolfie’s amazing talent, then you can spout your nonsense. The videos above show an average teenage garage band playing tunes at a dance (or whatever it is). To be a professional musician, you need more credibility than that. I agree with whoever said that Wolfie should be forming his own band with people his own age and making a name for himself that way instead of just riding is dad’s coattails. Then again, maybe control-freak dad won’t let him.

Bottom line - There has been no new VH music since the crap that was put on the “Best of Both Worlds” compilation. Eddie supposedly has 40-50 songs written. So, we’re waiting! And waiting….

  79. Jeff says:

Some dads go fishing with their sons, because it is a common bond they share, others go on world tours together for the same reason. I don’t see a problem here.
I taught my son guitar from age 2, now he has surpassed me and is doing great things. But the best part is every time I get to sit down with him and his band and jam…….common bond that nobody can take from him or myself!!
Good job Wolfie!! Keep it up!!

  80. SCAR says:

Chad, read the post from jrod 2009!!!

  81. only1halen says:

It’s more important that Ted Templeman returns than Michael Anthony. Even though I would like to see both return with Wolf moved to rhythm guitar or out of the band. Ted is the true 5th member of The Mighty Van Halen. The more people around 5150 like Ted and Dave, with the backbone/balls to say no to Eddie, the better the new music will be.

  82. Johnny says:

SCAR! You have like 20 posts… get a life dude!!!!!!!

  83. SCAR says:

I do Johnny boy, I do this right out of my office in my bar, so basically I multi task, I pick on the haters and work all at the same time!!!! Talking about getting a life, if you are counting my posts you must not get out a lot!!! A lot of women hang out at the bar, I can help you out with that as long as you don’t mind them laughing at you at first (they are a feisty handful)!!!!!!

  84. Jimmy says:

I didn’t read everyone’s postings but I did see a couple of jag-offs bagging on the sun of a famous musician. You guys take this shit to serious. It’s sad. If I was one of the Van Halens, I wouldn’t make new music or post news because everyone always some bullshit to say. Leave the kid alone. Van Halen owes us nothing. THX FOR THE MUSIC and IF THERE IS MORE, THEN THATS A BONUS…
    Later geeks.

  85. Jolsin says:

The Kid is great. All you guys are upset about Mike and so was I. But Mike bit the hand that fed him, Ed shared all of the publishing rights with him for years and Mikey never wrote a song. I guess Ed felt slighted when he played with Sam who Ed had a fight with. Ask Jagger/Richards, Bon Jovi/Sambora, Lennon/mcartney if they, or Pete Townsend shared any publishing rights with non song writers. Although Lennon could not be asked. It took me a while to figure this out but Mikey was given many millions that Ed could have kept for himself . I know Al did not write any material but he is a blood relation , like many family businesses he is in the family.
    Jolsin

  86. Mike says:

Song choice? You guys are all so OLD!!!! Jeez, you expect him to play some ancient rock from the 70s? He is playing what is popular now, for a high school audience, what do you expect? I think he sounds pretty good. Hopefully he will find himself in a band of people his own age and write some new rock music.

  87. Rich says:

Doesn’t matter what guitar he uses, he probably uses Wolfgangs all the time…I think i’d get sick of a guitar that shared my name. Ed didn’t just use one guitar…Strats, Les Pauls, Axis, Wolfgangs, various Kramers, that Ibanez Destroyer for Women and Children First….PRS is a pretty solid make and a good choice for heavier stuff.

  88. Jeff says:

He is still using the new 5150 III THOUGH!! SOUNDS COOL!!

  89. Ted says:

Scar, your boy Johnny has a point. Do you live to only make comments on these websites about rock stars? I think your answer to him was very predictable too!

  90. David Alexander, Toulca Lake says:

Hey, you remember when that girl was prom queen??
    Oh wow.

  91. JC says:

Oh, please… Ed, you can’t kick Wolfie´s ass out of VH for being in an “School of Rock” band (movie’s great, don’t get me wrong), because he is your son, and to my concern he did not deserve to be in the GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME just for being a Van Halen… For example, Jason Bonham is a the hell of a drummer, not better than his dad, but a great one from whom Page & Plant didn’t feel ashamed… And is not about Wolfie himself, it’s just because he deserve to plant his own tree, he is not made to play in VH… And, BTW you get ride of Mike for doing the same things, but, of course, he and you are not related…

  92. Ted says:

Take it off!!!!!……… take it off!!……… whoa…….. pictures of the silver screen….. greatest thing I’ve ever seen……

  93. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

…now her name is up in lights…..everything turned out alright! ;)

  94. john says:

Great point jolsin,I wish people would realize that Micheal Anthony has to be one of the luckiest people alive. Can you imagine getting Publishing from Van Halen without writting a single song.John Paul Jones was just as important to led Zep as mickey was to VH and the only Publishing he gets is for the songs that he wrote or helped write. In fact one day Howard Stern was interviewing Rodger daltry, and Howard made a comment about how rich he must be,and to that RD said something like I dont have as much as you think I dont own any of the WHOs publishing. Buy the way will Mickey be sharing publishing rights with Sammy and Joe?Do I wish MA was still in the band ?Yes. Do I feel sorry for him, hell most musicans would sell their soul for half his career.

  95. Dee says:

Wolfgang is exactly where he belongs - playing with his own band in a high school arts fair…I used to dig the Wolfgang cameos, but he should be limited to that. Michael Anthony is an essential piece to the Van Halen puzzle.

  96. JF says:

Who cares? He wanted to play a gig with/for his friends. They played some contemporary songs, pulling them off rather well, I must say. He probably loved the attention from the young ladies in the audience. That’s about it. More power to him.

As for VH, he’s the bass-man. His young ear will add some new flavor to his dad’s riffs and ideas. Eddie seems happier than ever at having his son in the mix. If these factos bring about a new Van Halen album next year, what exactly are some of you bitching about again???

  97. Paul Witty says:

Get a life wankers, for fuck’s sake! Music exists as a force of life. It’s a personal and/or spiritual expression. If people like to observe you doing this thing - which for someone like a VH - is as natural as breathing, then that’s an interesting consequence. If you’re hung up on the content or the brand, then perhaps you should grab yourself a coke.

  98. SA Dave says:

Keep Rocking Wolf I look forward to seeing you in 2010. Of course my dream is the best of both worlds tour with Sammy / Mike and Dave and even Wolf but that is wishful thinking probably.

  99. Dave C. says:

Anyone who busts on Mr. Van Halen or his son are pieces of crap..I’m a dad too and to do things with your kids is the best! Wolfgang has some serious talent, not just genetic either….Mr. Ed and Wolf, Rock On!

  100. Rene says:

long live VH fuck all you that hate, keep on doing what your doing wolf you gotta be a kid and jam with ur friends and for jamming with VH believe me if i were in ur shoes it would kick ass.Sam,Mike love ya ,miss ya Ed how about calling em up and chicken foot open for VH 2010 that would be the shit
