Just saw Chickenfoot at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveleand! They rocked! It was pretty obvious that they were having a good time and enjoying themselves. The crowd really got into it too - everyone was fired up before the show and really amped after. I think everyone had a good time. Mostly class of 70’s and 80’s crowd (I’m class of ‘87), but some young people too (who when singled out in a joking manner, quickly pointed out how much they appreciated good music and deserved to be there too!). I think there was a pretty amazing vibe with everyone realizing we were seeing these guys in a such a special setting. A giant Chickenfoot peace sign/foot was projected onto the outside of the Hall of Fame like the Bat Signal!
One of my own question’s was answered… I’ve been wondering about the sound of those crappy YouTube videos we’ve all seen. The sound that night was amazing - the guys were all tuned in and Satch didn’t miss a note. Everyone was amazed at Sammy’s voice after all these years (he’s still got it). Anyways, in concert: sound was as good as any concert I’ve seen (about 70 including Van Halen 8 times). Got home and checked out a couple of YouTube submissions and as I suspected, sound was very misleading. Don’t judge the guys by these cell phone and digital camera postings. Read the concert goer reviews - everwhelmingly positive on all points.
Started the afternoon out at Great Lake Brewery for some lunch and ale (Nasferatu on draft!). Showed up at the RRHF and had a few tokes with fellow CF fans (we were all ticket winners as far as I could tell). Thankfully, no one harrassed any of us about our extra-curricular activities… Drank an overpriced and water downed Miller Lite! Finished the night down town - very cool to see Chickenfoot fans walking around Cleveland that night!
Cleveland Rocks! Chickenfoot Rocks! Wish they were coming around again this tour…guess we’ll have to wait and see if they make album number 2. I’m pretty optimistic that it will happen after seeing them live. Cheers!

Saw the ‘foot last night in NYC. They friggin’ ROCK!
August 18th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
god i sure hope so i love Chickenfoot. I bet RHCP is gonna be huge. i was at a “cover concert” where bands covered songs. about 40% was RHCP. So they got lots to look foward too. But ill miss the foot!!!

They have to say they’ll be back, they still have to sell 200thousand copies to go Gold.
Good for Chad Ferrell and the Chillis, but as some Guitar God said, “you can’t be in two bands” guess he was right.
Now CF must wait for Ferrell to end his 2 year stunt with HIS band, to do a new album and tour.
Oh well.
August 18th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
ben, who’s Chad Ferrell?
August 18th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Ben,
In the year 2009, a ROCK band selling over 300,000 units of their debut album in the first 2 months is indeed a huge success.
And Chad Smith isn’t in two bands. He’s in three. Yet even Chad is saying that Chickenfoot will get together in 2010. It shouldn’t be a long wait for more from the ‘Foot.
August 18th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
Those are some cool shirts! They needed to make a RED one! And I love the white and grey.
August 19th, 2009 at 1:40 am
I was at the London show - AMAZING night; they played their asses off. Good memories. Came out of the show to find out that Jacko had died; surreal end to a wonderful night. Look forward to seeing the ‘Foot at some point next year !

August 19th, 2009 at 5:38 am
Though I am pro-Dave I love how they always look like they are having a good time..and I am sure it transfers over into their shows. Sammy has a great voice and Mikey rocks…he is really funny too!
Wish they were coming closer to my area, so I could see Mike!!

Uh, VH2008, the red one is the first one on the list. Look again.
Looking forward to the AC show this weekend! _\–/
August 19th, 2009 at 7:11 am
Ben, I would bet that Chickenfoot’s next release will be out before the next Van Halen album. Eddie has a million excuses in his bag of tricks, plus it takes some time to doctor the lead vocals in the studio.
August 19th, 2009 at 8:04 am
Saw CF…again…and they were absolutely fantastic. Sammy was in top form all night long and hit any note at will. But wow, these guys are just so tight. There is no question they will continue…it’s just too damn good.
Had front row seats, and let me tell you, Mikey has never played better, and his backup vox is still the best in rock and roll. This was an amazing show, and I was there with some Dave-heads, and they dug it big time. (It’s really so different from VH, so I don’t think they felt too conflicted cheering for Sammy and the boys.)
August 19th, 2009 at 9:36 am
If you want to have a fucking great time go see them live!!!!
August 19th, 2009 at 10:47 am
I’m liking the dialogue here. It’s a breath of fresh air to hear about some Dave fans giving props to Sam as well. Both are very talented in very different ways.
August 19th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Hey Chad, you’re going to the AC show this weekend? I live about a half hour away from AC.
August 19th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Stop it guys! You’re making me regret not going to see them when they were in London. Damn, I knew I should have got my ass down there…
August 19th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
I thought this was the Vn Halen News Desk?? Let’s stay focused people. Dave and the boys from Pasadena will return in 2010…………
August 19th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
News flash for you Dan Russell, we are focused you idiot, focused on a band that’s current, putting out new music and giving the fans killer live shows. Right now that band isn’t VH!!!! DUH!!!! When or if VH actually does something new in the future, then we will be focused on them!!!
August 19th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
The good mood just couldn’t last, could it! Some dick just had to turn up and act like a 10 year old…
August 19th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Not enough dates for the Great White North. There better be a second album!!!
And yes Dan, we all love VH here. And the dream is a Chickenfoot/VH tour for 2010.
Stranger things have happend!
You keep Focus Danielson! Focus!
August 19th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
i’m going to the universal show sept 27. can’t wait.
August 19th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
I can’t stop laughing at Karl’s last post. “Some dick just had to turn up and act like a 10 year old.” That’s so perfectly stated I love it.
On a more CF note, I saw their very first gig in Seattle and was amazed at how tight they were even then. This is a great band. Wish they’d come back around the Pacific NW though.
August 19th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
As I said before they rocked Grand Rapids (8-13). They put on a good show. You forgot it was there first album. I love Michael Anthony and I was standing right in front of him through the show. I would see them again in a second. Van Halen (with DLR) will always be my favorite group(I still listen to VH every day) however I also will always see SH and MA whenever I can.
August 19th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
hey people, take it easy on DAN, it’s obvious he can’t read (hey Dan read the top of the sight very carefully)
August 19th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Yeah 300thousand for a rock band in 2009 is good, but for a “super group” I don’t think so.
I guess they were expecting Platinum minimum.
IGuess the product wasn’t good enough.
And for a 2nd album before VH I don’t doubt it, but I hope you’re wrong.
August 20th, 2009 at 4:19 am
Sort of hoping you would come down under, I mean tour the land of OZ. It’s a cool ablum regardless, and as I “keep turning left”, I say “oh yeah”, have a nice day.
August 20th, 2009 at 7:43 am
Dan is a serious ‘tard!!
August 20th, 2009 at 7:45 am
Uh Chad, read vh2008 comment again, I believe he was saying that they “needed” a red one. Which translates to him saying,”finally, they have a red one”
Peace!!
August 20th, 2009 at 7:52 am
The coolest part was when Chad bounced the stick off the ground.
August 20th, 2009 at 8:22 am
Go get Alex VH while Chad’s in the studio with Peppers!
August 21st, 2009 at 10:41 am
Good one Van Foot, Alex isnt doing anything now, I bet he would love to play. But then he might get kicked out of Vh to. Edward doesnt have any more kids.
August 21st, 2009 at 1:42 pm
Hey guys we all come to this site for all things Van Halen. What has happened is some of the members of VH have went lets say different directions. So as a way of keeping all fans in tune with the members past and present the site puts all this news on.I know some people would just want VH news but if they did just that maybe the site would be updated once every 6 months. My point is this,at least with a variety of news all fans get to enjoy this site.Dan maybe just a die hard fan as I am too,but I do enjoy chickenfoot. It is hard to knock them because they do get up there and kick ass.Sammy does get on my nerves but he in my opinion puts it all out there on stage.Van Halen or Chickenfoot,Dave,Sammy or Gary a fan is a fan.Isn’t that what we are.Rock hard and rock on guys.

Seen Chickenfoot on 8-29-09. The show was tight. the Red Rocker, Satch, Chad and Mikey (Reminded me of Booiger in Revenge of the Nerds) Anthony, back in his earily days. That night was his show his backing vocals brought me back to the VH days in the 90’s. Satch is the Master seen him some other times also. All in All Chickenfoot is the best Super Group in 2009! The other great part I was able to get Satriani’s autograph after the show! We need to see the Dvd come out and the follow up to this amazing debut!
