Russ:

Agreed.

That's one of the many things I love about those old songs.
Every one of those songs (excluding the covers)had something very special about them. Even the slow ones.
Example: I love eddies solo in women in love, little dreamer, and especially i'll wait.

Now as far as keyboards in rock are concerned, its usually hit or miss with me. "Jump" & "I'll wait" are two that I can listen to anytime cause those keyboards make me feel something. The opening keys on "I'll wait" is just so damn cool to me. And then once alex's drums kick in it's just goosebump material to me.

But, there's a point when some keyboards truly RUIN a good band or song. I can totally understand why so many VH fans back in the day were in horror when they heard eddie playing
keyboards.

Eiether way it all comes down to what rocks ya!

Stay cool russ!

Thanks for the words Duck,

Yea I think Women in Love was another DLR ballad (or what we would consider a DLR ballad). That was the thing about those early albums...even the slow songs were high octane enough that it didn't matter. We wouldn't skip over them. That's why I think I'll Wait is discussed kind of sheeply. Personally I think the keyboards tamed it too much. Imagine the song with straight guitar in the tradition of the former two tunes.

Russ:

Funny you mentioned "Little Dreamer"...great song.
Yeah...I guess you could say it's a ballad. But it's
not a sappy type of ballad that "you know who" usually brings to the VH table. It has a great sound to it and daves vocals are spot on. The echo's alone are priceless.

Now...would "Woman in love" be known as a dave ballad too?
Granted it's about a girl leaving her man for another girl...but I dont know if its considered a ballad.
I do know that it's another great classic VH song with some great vocals by dave and some beautiful guitar work by eddie.

Your thoughts?

Skutch,

Just read one of your idiotic statements on another page about Line 6 gear. You pinhead, some of the top musicians in the business use Line 6 gear...peddles..amps..instruments..from the Eagles to Metallica. When you graduate from your pignose & Squier strat then you can talk trash about Line 6 kid.

Well kim....

Dont remember much of the late 70's. Not due to drugs...just due to me being a little duck of four years old! LOL! Dont know if you caught my post about when i first got into VH when I was 10 years old? Well that was my beginning!

Yeah...i feel bad for your generation. I thought growing up in the 90's sucked! Ha..ha.
The problem with music today is there is no substance...no orginality....no fun. It's all about "one hit song" and you're a rockstar. Bullshit! There's a hell of a lot more behind being a rockstar....and it aint one hit song ok?
There was a time when the music did the talking and you eiether had it...or you didnt! Van halen with dave had it! :)

Great to have such a cool girl hanging around! You keep us all from killing each other and im sure make many wonder, what the hell you look like! ;)

Rock on kim....you're a breath of fresh air compared to many of the girls out there today.
