Well thanks for the thread Kim. I happen to love "On Fire" because it is so heavy and contains so many different sections that are just seemlessly threaded together. Dave's scream after the first chorus is legendary. The guitar solo is absolute magic and does not seem to belong in any key. It is technical and tonally brilliant. The tune just oozes with anger. I love it.

That being said, Pound for pound:
#1 VH Song; Hear About it Later

I can totally see why "Jump" is one of the most popular VH songs. Many cant stand it but I for one love it. It's just a "feel good song". Anytime I hear it i think summer.
My first exposure to VH was when i was 10 years old. Went away to the catskills with my family. It was the summer of 85' and it was a great time to be a kid. I remember being by the pool and this guy walked past me with a boombox on his shoulder (which everyone did back in those days...you know, the look) and I hear this song that caught my attention immediately. "Jump". I actually remeber following the guy around until the song was over! Ha ha. The guy probley was like: whats this little kid doing? It wasnt until a week after my friend's brother had it playing in his room. I ran in and asked him who sang it. He said kid...I'm going to introduce you to the best rock and roll band since the stones. He sat me down and played me: Jump, panama, hot for teacher (which i asked him to play twice cause i loved the drum intro)and unchained. From that point on i was hooked.
So when i hear people say that "jump" sucks or is the lamest VH song I smile to myself. To some it may be a thorn in their rock n roll side...but to me it was just the beginning of my love for classic VH...
