A friend of mine worked for the Van Halen camp for 20 years (he’s a ’soccer dad’ too, but still works in the music industry). He wasn’t invited to the wedding (it was relatively small). Ironically, he has photos of Eddie and Van Halen (with Sammy) at his own wedding. Anyways, he sent a text to Eddie asking him what the hell he was doing (just being sarcastic, knowing he just got married and was on his honeymoon). Ed responded “I’m busy!”. I guess my buddy thought that was pretty funny to ‘interupt’ Ed’s honeymoon - I just thought it was cool that he had Ed’s phone number…
My buddy is a cool friend to have - considering I am a Van Halen fanatic like the rest of you. Lots of cool stories and photos. And some questions he won’t answer as well as stories he won’t tell me, out of respect for Van Halen. The little that he has shared…I’ll just say I thought I knew everything after scouring interviews, magazines, videos, bootlegs - anything I could get my hands on. Still lots we don’t know. And some things we don’t want to know and shouldn’t know.
Congrats to Eddie and Janie. Hopefully the foreign press has more class than the US press and shows them a little respect.
Patiently waiting for the next Van Halen album…

TOPJIMMY - you’re so right, leave him alone…it’s his honeymoon, he’s not on tour.
I’d love to see him quit the smokes though. I can’t believe he had a chunk of his tongue removed, and after years of smoking, he blames it on his guitar picks.

He does look happy. Or completely stoned. (This is Amsterdam after all.) It looks like he’s put on a few pounds which is a good thing. For a while there he was looking like a professional cyclist but with skinny legs.

I miss the days when I saw a picture of Eddie onstage!….I was never really interested in the personal stuff….like the guy said…it is his honeymoon….give him some privacy. It just saddens me how things have changed. There used to be such an excitement with Van Halen. Their reputation has been tarnished….that just makes me sad…I loved this band so much…and still love the music…I just don’t want to hear all the whining, the arguing….bad mentions about other band memebers and so on. Let the good memories live and move on. Stop going backwards and move forwards. Plug all that Fender gear in and just blow my mind like you used to. I miss that so much

Liven up dude!! The most important thing is everybody in the Van Halen camp is on song now!!! FACT!! Dave needs Van Halen as much as Van Halen needs Dave!!! It’s all good!! I think the time spent apart all those years ago only made it all worthwhile when they got back together. I believed Eddie when he stated the media blew things out of proportions when Dave left!! If there was that much bad blood between Dave & the VH brothers, then Dave wouldn’t have showed up and paid his respects to Ed and Al’s father’s passing back in 1987 and most recently their mother passing. They’ve always had the respect for one another. Alex once said that Dave, Eddie and himself would constantly fight over what was best for Van Halen. He likens it to Buddy Rich’s famous ‘Bus Tape’ incident. Whenever Dave, Eddie and Alex fought, it was always to bring the best out of each other to benefit the band. The 1996 reunion just wasn’t meant to be.
Firstly let’s get some hard truths out of the way shall we!!! FACT! Mike stated that he never wants to play with Dave again, PERIOD!!! Yet when Van Halen announced their intentions for a reunion tour with Roth in 2007/08, Mike cries foul that he was not invited and ousted from the band. Sorry Mike but you’re the hypocrite; you let down the Van Halen fans and chose to go with Sam!! That ‘other half’ tour and the reunion with VH/Sam tour is the lowest the mighty Van Halen have gone!!! Plus all this ‘doing it for the fans’ cliché is starting to wear thin and is BS!! That smells like Sam. He is very good at manipulating the fans and media; he is SAM INC after all. Corporations are master media players!!!
On the other hand fast forward to today, Eddie has settled his boozing demons, married the right women and is in a good Eddie frame of mind!!! And we all know that if it’s a happy Eddie, then the “ME WISE MAGIC” of Van Halen is unleashed!!!! Let the good times roll it’s so good to be alive, knowing Van Halen are ALIVE!!!!!

there is more to the dam then weed
i dont think ed would smoke out if he stopped drinking but id rather he was stoned then drinking which almost killed him
the city is historic and he grew up dutch for god sakes.
he speaks dutch still too i think.
he wants to see his native country and all you people that have not been there can think of is weed

I am Dutch, Eddie is Dutch, Alex is Dutch, what is wrong about being Dutch ? We don’t al smoke weed, we don’t al have wooden shoes, but i know there are some great guitarplayers who are Dutch !!

Have you heard the unreleased haunting Van Halen ballad Dave (yes Dave!) sang called ‘Angel Eyes’? It was done at about Van Halen 2 era. (I might be wrong) You can check out the YouTube clip on it. For those that say Roth’s vocals are weak, you will be silenced for good when you hear ‘Angel Eyes’!! Diamond Dave vocals are the most identifiable and original ever in the history of ROCK!!! He is one fine Blues singer as well, his phrasing and dynamics are classic Dave and not comparable to anybody.
When Robert Plant and Ian Gillan exploded on the scene with their respective bands there was nothing worst then hearing the clones that followed thereafter. At least with Dave he was a complete original and as much one of the signature sounds that made Van Halen legendary!!!

Yea Russ I saw it as well. I got my information from a website called “Ponderings from Pluto, News that’s so out there it might actually be true!”
This same site also had an article about the possibility of getting Mikey back. I could really see this site being some sort of joke site where the owners of it basically punk people into reading inaccurate info. and spreading it. I hope I am wrong especially since this news involves a new album. Time will tell.

The only place to find the Music Man EVH is on Ebay since they don’t make them anymore. You should try the Axis…I have one and I love it so much I sold a bunch of strats and teles.

Amsterdam is an amazing place.
When I think of Amsterdam, I think of it’s wonderful bicycling infrastructure and how everyone from ages 3-93 rides to get around. Too bad the US isn’t like this (although biking in South Pasadena is quite a good time).
Hopefully Edward and Janie are enjoying themselves.
