Sammy posted this today:

Sammy here,

Wanting to make sure you all heard about my new bottle design for Cabo Wabo tequila. I thought it was time to kick it once more and I asked the same guys who have been designing my album and CD covers for years to make this happen. The new design is a little of Mexico and a whole lot of kick ass Rock and Roll. It’s a nod to the artisinal nature of the original bottle but more refined and I wanted it given a shot of rock and roll energy that is 100% Cabo Wabo. The best thing is that while the look of the bottle is new, the liquid inside is the same hand-crafted, amazing tequila it has always been.

I’m excited about the new look, and hope everyone digs it as much as I do! Cabo Wabo rocks the world!

I don’t know Sam. The new bottles have a nice clean look but it seems like the newer refined design is just following the pack of other premium tequilas out there. I liked the newer blue bottle design. It stood out from the others even if it didn’t look as classy.

  2. dan says:

I like the original bottle design best.

  3. Harry Ballsonya says:

Sweet! I have all 3 already!

  4. paulgioia says:

Your money in my pocket rocks the world even more!!!!!!

  5. Myron Philpot says:

Does the world really need another premium tequila in a tinted bottle with a label designed by album sleeve artists?

  6. Sean says:

The old labels were cool. Something different. This one looks very corporatey and un-Sammy. I don’t like it. At all!! Bottle must be blue!

  7. Top Jimmy says:

WTF? I’m not usually one of these guys who criticize the postings on here but Sammy’s tequila bottle redesign? That’s a stretch.

  8. Kimberly says:

    Hmm..I don’t know if I like it..its okay tho!

  9. Keefer says:

I like the older two designs a lot better. Have to agree with Kayser Sozay. This is a nice clean look, but it just puts it as a look-alike for everything else on the shelf.

  10. William says:

I think this “news” should have been posted in the VH store, and not on the VHND. Sorry, but the redesign of a tequila bottle just doesn’t cut it as news. Must be a very slow news day.

    P.S. I still like Sammy/Van Halen/Chickenfoot.

  11. SCAR says:

When tequila is as good as Cabo is, the label design is just not that important!!!!

  12. walteR says:

I bet Kimberly is a hottie

  13. Kimberly says:

    ;)

  14. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

    Thank you jimmy buffett!

  15. David Alexander, Toulca Lake says:

Sammy, Cabo is about RUSTIC beauty, not streamlined.

Your label/bottle doe not fit the “brand” of “Cabo Wabo”.

Should have gone with something more handblown or artisian style. But Im sure that would cost more dinero.

    Looks more like Brentwood Wabo.

    Gated Community Wabo.

Get back to your roots Sammy.

  16. phil says:

    i love tequila!

  17. Brett says:

I hate the new bottle and label. The old blue bottle was so unique!

  18. Big AL says:

I bet Kimberly’s a 45 year old man, laughing his ASS off at all you horn dog’s!!

You should’nt have changed the bottle and deffinetly don’t change the TASTE!!!!!

  19. ben says:

This new design sucks big time, the other one was better, anyways I hate tequila!

  20. RickieVanWhalen says:

Sinking to a new low I see. I can top it: I would love to do endless shots of this crap using Kimberly’s legs for the salt!

  21. Matt from Australia says:

“cabo Wabo rocks the world”….yeah right. Just another lame attempt to grab peoples hard earned cash. Seriously - who would get excited over a new bottle design?
    Sammy Hagar = Money grabber

  22. Bosox says:

Ya the old bottle was awesome. Embodied Mexico the new label look like an attempt to be cool. The suits are fucking with the product.

  23. Frank says:

The new bottles are horrible…Thank God I saved my old bottles…I’ll just have to refill them and toss out the new bottles.

  24. aarxn82 says:

    who the flip cares? ugh

  25. Keith says:

    Yo VHND !!! W.T.F. ???

  26. Rocko says:

Sammy and Cabo is Cool but I don’t think the new Tequila bottle design is news to me.

  27. The Doctor says:

Well, this is a perfect example of what happens when you sell out to a multi-national liquor consortium……bland.

Not that there’s anything wrong with making a buck. What are some of you negative nancys? Commies?

No wonder the economy went down the drain!

  28. Pete says:

I love Sammy too, and I love Cabo Wabo, but I agree…this is not really news I suppose…

  29. Kayser Sozay says:

I bet even Sammy thinks the new bottle design is far less rock and roll than the old one. A big reminder of how he gave up control of the product in exchange for that $80 million. But so what when you consider the 20% stake he kept will soon be worth what the 80% stake he sold was worth. Ka-ching!

  30. EBMusicMan says:

This is almost as exciting as when Ed came out with his own line of shoes! Zzzzzzzzz

The bottle is even shaped like Hagar…portly.

  31. Jor-L5150 says:

    LOVE it. very sharp .

( btw- i have worked in graphics/logo design /sign making etc and it’s just my opinion , but i understand graphics and this is a nice change of look , don’t worry - it’ll continue to evolve like all logo’s do )

  32. Harry Ballsonya says:

Once again let’s bash Sammy for doing something!

But if Eddie put out Eruption penis pills it would be alright? Ya know, with the famous striped logo on them!

Get over yourselves and don’t post here if you don’t like it! I have all 3 bottles and every one made since they were put out!

  33. Sh*t Talker Funky Walker says:

If I recall, during the F.U.C.K. tour, wasn’t it Sammy who was sporting the yellow denim jacket with some corporate logo on the back. I knew the moment that he signed off the end of the show as “The Red Rocker Sammy Hagar” that this train was pulling into the station sooner than later. Even his T-shirts and red sunglasses he wore on stage had “Red” plastered all over them. Sammy is all about the fans alright…as long as they keep pumping their money into his fat pockets. I like Sammy as a vocalist. Just don’t piss down my leg and tell me it’s raining either. Fans my ass, it’s all about the bennies. Those Lamborghini’s ain’t free, aye Sammy??

  34. non-stop talker says:

It always bugs me when talented musicians invest their money into major businesses that have absolutely nothing to do with the artistry that originally made them famous. I know that T-shirts don’t have any direct connection to music, but at least they’re a way of showing that you’re proud to be a fan; and they’re sold at concerts. But what does tequila have to do with music? Or what, for than matter, does perfume have to do with music? But I guess if it tastes good or smells good, why not? I’m just not a big fan of tequila or perfume, I suppose. I did order a pair of Eddie’s shoes. At least the striped pattern on them has something to do with his music; since it’s similar to the pattern he had on the guitars he played with. But if I drank Cabo Wabo it wouldn’t make me think of music.
