Sammy-style sunglasses
Tuesday, 14 July 2009
These unique sunglasses, made by Liquid Eyewear, are made of unbreakable aluminum, which makes them virtually indestructible.
Sammy Hagar loves these shades and wears them often. In fact, he has special ordered this model in these unique colors for himself.
Van Halen Store has custom-ordered these sunglasses, and is offering them to our customers for a limited time and at a discounted price. View all four colors at VanHalenStore.com.

Cool shades! Would it be inappropriate to wear them and the EVH striped shoes at the same time?
July 14th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Hell no! It would be awesome!

I don’t hate Sammy, but it’s funny how EVH sells shit and everybody bashes him. Sammy, hey you go right ahead. Cool shades…….dam you Sammy!

You beat me to the punch Andrew. When Sammy sells shit, he is a clever business man. When Eddie does it he is a sellout. Laughable.

Good points andrew and bob, but remember, we don’t like the shades because we hate Sammy Hagar. It’s all personal, yada, yada, yada. Whatever. That’s supposed to be the rational, right?

People crap on Eddie for putting his name on stuff but at least it’s guitar related, except for those sneakers.

At least Sammy puts out MUSIC, CONCERT DVD’S, ETC., while selling his other stuff . Get if ???

The difference for me is that Sammy “sells crap” and also makes new music! Fifteen or twenty years ago, we all would have died to get a pair of EVH striped sneakers or a Frankenstein replica or EVH effects pedal. But back in those days, when Eddie was making ground-breaking music, he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) also put out cool merchandise. Now it seems that all he does is hawk gear and clothes, and I for one would much rather hear new music. It doesn’t bother me if Sam wants to sell booze or sunglasses or whatever, because it doesn’t get in the way of him writing great new music. (Yes, I said “great.”)

Sammy has always sold merchandise after Van Hagar. Cabo Wabo, Tequila, you name it? His beach lifestyle? Come on! He was into Real Estate after Van Hagar as well. Were did get the cash from? It was not from his solo stuff? Ok, newer music was made by him. Wow!! Did not even get close to what he did with Van Hagar. Everyone sells their product.

CORRECTION: “Sammy” isn’t selling these things. He wears them. He also bought some for himself.
The VH store thinks they’re cool, and thinks Sammy fans might like them too.
To sum up, in case anyone missed it, Sammy is not selling shades. (They look cool, but I have to wear cheap sunglasses since I lose 2 pairs a month…)
Peace everyone…

The observation I will make is that EVH more or less sells instruments and guitar gear that hundrends of thousands of players demanded. The market came to him. The instruments (the Wolfgang, Fender Replica, 5150 amp and pedals) I own are the best money can buy.
Sammy’s sunglasses; oh yeah, I see the relationship to the quality instruments this guy made. Time to go put on my vh sneakers and plug in!

hey tman i always wonder who you guys think should have replaced dave. i have a number of times on this sight asked and no one will offer any names, so the way i see it mike, ed, and al also made alot of money off sam. if i am wrong here please explain.

Ian Gillian, Billy Idol, Nancy Wilson
Sammy wouldn’t have been half as bad had they hired someone to write his lyrics. But Eddie has always dismissed the impoartance of his singers, so he probably doesn’t value good lyrics much either.

famac no disrespect man but that’s a huge reason why eddie and sammy split.eddie wanted someone else to write vh’s lyrics because he thought sam’s were just silly especially on the twister soundtrack.sam just flat out refused and thought his lyrics were great and now most people realize that hagar’s lyrics leave a little to be desired.50 yr,sammy was the logical choice to replace dave imo.his voice and attitude fit.he had major rock and arena experience, plus he was just coming off a hit with i can’t drive 55.as far as making money off of someone,i’m not exactly sure that sam would have 80 million bucks in the bank without vh but i’m not sure how far ed and the boys would have got without sam either.regardless it’s time to move on.

j5149.5, a lot of us are moving on. to chickenfoot. us true fans will wait for the new music if it happens or when it happens.

Maybe that’s true about Ed not liking Sam’s lyrics.
But my recollection of the Twister soundtrack (Humans Being) is that Sam showed up and the lyrics were already written, and he made a fuss about singing them.
Sam was having a baby at the time and Ed demanded he come in and sing. When he arrived he was asked to do the vocals over Ed’s guide track - which you can still hear behind Sammy’s vocal on the finished song.
Its my opinion that this was the first time Ed was toying with the idea of bringing Dave back, because that song seems tailor made to DLR’s singing style and register, as well as being more in the Classic VH style musically.
I wish someone would ask Ed that someday. But who knows what story you would get from week to week.
