I can’t explain why but I don’t enjoy them, believe me I LOVE Sammy in Van Halen, I have some cds of Joe and I always appreciated the Peppers but maybe I love too much a band called VAN HALEN. Sorry but now I find Sammy not sincere and even a little unpleasant.

This is not a knock on anyone, but for those of you who say this sounds like VH, I have to disagree. I have listened to this album at least 50 times, I just don’t hear it. Of course there may be some similarities with Sam and Mike, but Joe sounds nothing like Ed, besides that, without Al’s signature snare sound there cannot be a VH sound. That VH sound is a culmination of signature sounds, when one is missing it is very noticeable.

I think that it’s not a matter of battle Chikenfoot vs Van Halen, but it’s the way that the project Chickenfoot has born, it’s not genuine, it was a Sammy desire because he’s envious by the huge success of the VH reunion tour with Dave and he involved his puppy named Mike. I’m sure that if the tour was a flop, Sam continued to play with is local band Waboritas. By the way, curious that Sheehan speaks NOW about Dave, Mike and Ed, he’s hoping for a call? It would be great, I liked a lot Mr. Big!

Definitely does not sound like VH, although there is some distinctly similar backup vocal harmony to VH with Hagar. The album is awesome; rock on Chickenfoot….

The pressure is on the VH clan. I happen to think they will be back with a vengence! Wolf will be revered by everyone for putting a young edge to everything. I suspect that roth has 4cd’s worth of new material in his Ipod just singing new stuff to it. The ball is in his court.

Nice to see the boys havin fun in the studio. Great insight on the production crew. Looks like they are putting a team together for the long haul. I wouldnt be surprised to hear a few extra tunes on the tour in august. Also the clip on chickenfoot.us showing chad destroyin his set brings back memories of keith moon and the crazy days of rock n roll. He hurled that tom tom a few rows into the crowd,YEAH!!!!!!!!

VHND: Please keep up the good work reporting CF news. I like VH, SH, CF, DLR, and even Extreme. It’s great to have one place to get the news. Also, I love reading the CF haters stuff. I don’t agree with it, but it’s freakin’ hilarious! It’s America, so love CF or hate ‘em, I like to read both sides.

One more thing – most rock acts tune to E flat when they hit the road. EVH did not invent that. Singing 4x a week or more will really wear a vocalist out and tuning down helps.

The main reason Chickenfoot doesn’t sound like Van Hagar (and will never sound like Van Halen) is that Joe is too calculating a player. Eddie just cuts loose and they pick or edit together the best takes. Joe clearly has worked out every note.

Its very clear from the video above that he is very orderly. I bet all of his shirts are color coded in his closet, and all the lables face the same way in his pantry.

Oh… You mean like when Eddie mentioned how Sammy was his brother back in 1985 or do you mean more like when Eddie said that Gary Cherone was his musical soulmate in 1998 or perhaps maybe you are talking about when Eddie said that David Lee Roth was his “New Brother” in 2007.

What a musically ignorant thing to say. So that must mean Angus Young sounds just like B.B. King because Ang’s playing is blues based. Or maybe AC/DC sound just like Metalica because they’re both metal. Of course Satch is is a student of the VH school of playing. So are Vai, Petrucci, Lynch, Govan, Bettencourt and John 5. But they all sound distinctly different from each other and from Edward Van Halen.

So can you enlighten us as to which VH tracks the CF tracks sound like?

I would tend to agree that I’m getting tired of all of the CF stuff and less VH stuff, but let’s face it: There’s no VH stuff to report!

John 5 plays with Marilyn Manson and does quite a lot of solo stuff. He’s quite inventive and has phenomenal technique but he’s not really my cup of tea. Buckethead and Bumblefoot (both have played with Axle Rose, Bumblefoot’s on the new album) are another two who are sons of VH and are phenomenal players but I have to pick through to find stuff I want to listen to.

Don’t be such a simpleton Karl. You just admited that satch is from the EVH school. That’s the point. In addition, he plays lots of stuff that sounds like EVH. I like satch so don’t get all freaky on me. If you can’t hear EVH all of the place in his playing than you need a hearing aid. I won’t waste my time trying to convince you. Same thing for Vai by the way.

I have no idea what motivates agnus young or the other players you name nor do I care but if you like it…what the hell do you care what I think.
