It think that it is weird that they are touring with Ratt. Extreme used to spend so much time and effort to separate themselves from “hair bands” like Ratt. I guess you do what you have to make a buck these days.

I may check them out – but skip Ratt. Although I like a couple of songs from Ratt, I don’t like the band enough to want to see them live.

  • Mink

Should be an interesting concert. Extreme is great live. I’m not sure how well Stephen Pearcy’s voice is holding up these days. I think Ratt is playing the entire Out of the Cellar album this summer, which is cool. I’ll be interested in seeing how this plays out.

  • Karl

Another ex VHer out the making good music while the ‘king’ just makes excuses…

  • Fan of Great Music

I got to see Extreme on their Three Sides tour and Waiting for the Punchline. They are incredible and flawless live. If you have a chance to see them I highly recommend it. Ratt…..never was a big enough fan to see them live. Warren DeMartini is a good guitarist though!

  • http://www.501st.com Skutch

Karl, I didn’t come on here and start dissing extreme. Why do you feel the need to rag on Eddie incessantly.

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

I was lucky enough to see RATT twice live. I dont expect many to believe me but they were great shows. Stephen has a very unique voice and still sounded great years later. I was impressed by the playing (Warren DeMartini IS a great guitarist!)and the show rocked brothers! I was truly impressed. RATT unfortunatly was put in the same catagory as POISON and im sorry but apples and oranges right there. RATT has always had great hooks in their songs; Wanted Man, You’re In Love, Back For More, Lack Of Communication, Lay It Down etc. They are def worth seeing if you catch em with EXTREME.

Never was really into extreme but “3 Sides To Every Story”
is one hell of and album. Especially for the vocals alone. Gary may not have been a good choice for VH, but for extreme he’s perfect. Its the band he belongs in. Nuno is another underrated guitarist and his playing can be sick at times.

Glad all these bands are reuniting. Music today is such a joke man. I’d rather rock out to what feels RIGHT to me then jump on the bandwagon and act like im into whats “IN”.
You’ll never hear the duck talkin no dave matthews garbage.
You can take him..the bono’s (bozo’s)..and all these other so called rock stars of today and keep em! Aint my bottle of beer so to say!

So good for EXTREME and RATT! More groups to rock out to for another summer of rock and roll baabay!

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

By the way MINK; RATT is playing the whole album of “Out Of The Cellar”. I myself think thats pretty cool. 25th anniversary of the albums first release. 25 years ago? Wow.
    where does it go huh?
I think a lot of these bands are gonna start doing what RATT’S gonna do. AEROSMITH is playing all of “Toys In The Attic” (Which i think is so cool) on there tour too….

  • ben

I saw Ratt in 87 Poison opened that tour, they where really good.
Haven’t seen Extreme but it should be a fun concert.

  • DiamondDLR

If you don’t have it, do yourself a favor and pick up Extreme’s Saudades de Rock. It’s excellent.

    Ratt? Zzz…

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

DiamondDLR!! You really never liked one RATT song?
Not even “Round and Round!!!?” ;)

  • phil

i saw ratt a little over year ago at the house of blues in anaheim. surprisingly, they sounded really good…

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

Phil, although I didnt catch RATT at the house of blues (heard it was a great show) I actually saw Stephen Pearcy solo at a club called “The Crazy Donkey” out near me last year and I was just as impressed. Stephen Pearcy’s voice was on point. Sang a lot of RATT songs and threw in a little ARCADE. It was a great show. There was about 500 of us but a lot of fun.

Speaking of ARCADE. Has anyone ever heard of em? After RATT broke up stephen formed the group and released a total of 3 albums if im correct. I have the debut remastered and its without a doubt one of the hardest rockers to come out of 93′. The problem was GRUNGE arrived and killed the scene. If the album was released in 1990 it would have smoked. Guys im serious. If you would never own a stephen peracy album…fine. But check out these two tracks (one’s a heavy rocker the other a beautiful “Zepplin” like acoustic that is stellar…great song)

“Screaming S.O.S” (this song has some great hooks..its a rocker….crank it!)
    and
“Mother Blues” (One of the coolest acoustic songs I’ve ever heard…beautiful playing. Take away the vocals and it could have been a zepplin song. Yes..i’m dead serious!)

  • Aftershock

I wonder who will be the first one-trick pony to jump this Extreme thread and use it to denigrate Eddie?

Oh, sorry, I’m already too late.

  • phil

ha! you are right aftershock. it would be nice if we can make it through one news blog without denigrating ed, al, dave, sam, mike, gary or wolfie…but i think world peace is more achievable then peace on the VHND!

  • Vanicionado

Do they do any Van Halen songs?

  • RA 8 1 2

If they did any VH songs, meaning from Gary Era VH3, nobody would know what they were! LOL!

  • Jeff

    Ben,
you owe it to yourself to see Extreme live!! You will be blown away, I promise. I have seen them every chance I could get right from before their first album came out.

    DiamondDLR,
you are absolutely right,Saudades de Rock is an unbelievable album!!

  • phil

ducky, check ratt out this time around. you will be surprise. they do put on an entertaining show and the best part of the show is watching the groupies from the 80′s trying to fit into that slutty skirt one last time…ha!

  • Vanicionado

RA 8 1 2… true that… although I still think “Without You” kicks ass!!

  • phillster

    I saw extreme,cinderella,&DLR as a triple bill in `91.Extreme opened& were amazing.Cinderella stole 2+ hrs
of my life(utter crap).By the time ROTH hit the stage,
he was PLASTERED.I`m talkin` worse than the USfest`83
This show was the “little ain`t enough” tour.I`m a Big fan of DLR,&`im glad he`s back where he belongs.good times, damn good times.

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

    Phil! LOL!

I’ve seen those women! Getting old sucks! :)

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

Funny you mention that tour PHILLSTER. I remember an interview with DLR after the tour flopped and when EXTREME was mentioned david reffered to them as EXTREMEly boring! Thought that was funny back then but in retrospect hair metal was on it’s way out and so was roth. His last gold solo album.

Wow…1991…I was 16 years old. Wish i could go back man….

  • http://www.bellapop.com Bran Halen

Although I like Extreme I don’t keep up much with them, but it is very cool that they are still at it.

I have a lot of respect for Gary Cherone. Although his time with VH was definatley not my favorite version of the band, I did apreiciate that he came in and did his own thing and didn’t try to be another Dave or Sammy. And to the best of my knowledge I have never heard him say anything bad about any current or former memeber of VH.

  • ROB5150

In the early ’90 I was also a fan of Extreme, Nuno and Gary was and I’m sure are still a great couple of musicians, also the rhytmic section was remarkable.I remember them at the concert that Queen dedicated to Freddie in ’92, they were stratospheric! Unfortunately I have to say that when VH recruiting Gary immediately I thought that it was not the right choice for both parties. It’s right say that Gary has never talked bad about his adventure in the VH and if I remember well from the band there was never a negative comment about Gary; please correct me if I am wrong.

  • Jor-L5150

ironic that extreme/gary would open for a guy he waould replace. all water over the dam now.

  • Jeff

    Phillister,
I saw the same tour with DLR, Cinderella, and Extreme in Toronto, and if it was only 2 hours of your life that Cinderella stole from you, you are lucky, it SEEMED like they stole 3 weeks from me!!!! Man, they were just horrible!!!!
Extreme was absolutely incredible, and DLR was a fantastic display of showmanship!!!
It still turned out to be a fantastic summer night, right down to the 2 devil’s at the sound board that pissed all over us in the audience during DLR’S set.

    hey ROB5150,

i spoke to Gary when VH was inducted in the hall of fame. i asked if he was inducted aswell, and he said he thinks it didnt include him, but he was at home cheering them on with the rest of the fans. Gary is a true class act, and has never once talked smack about anyone in VH, or Sammy, or Dave. he claims he had a blast in VH and wishes them the best. and i might be mistaken, but im almost positive that he said h still talks to Eddie from time to time. i thought that was cool.

oh by the way, go see Extreme, seriously! they will melt your face

  • Rocko

Extreme minus a good drummer, bring back Paul Geary or Mike Mangini. Their current drummer sucks.

  • http://www.subnet.ie Seoirse

    Hi Guys

You got to get to see extreme… Saw them here in Dublin last December. Great band, always were.

I honestly think rock music is having a bit of a rebirth… Chickenfoot entered into music charts at no.4 and Dream Theater entered at no. 6. Makes a change from the usual shit that we hear everyday. Do we have a new album from Mr. Big I wonder?

    S.

  • Nate

Thankfully, they’re coming to Jaxx Nightclub in Springfield, w/o Ratt, so I’ll only see Extreme.
