Famac,

I like the fact that Craig sounds so much like Eddie in these demos. Craig *is indeed* trying to flat-out copy Eddie. That is the whole point of what he's doing with these VH-sounding demos.

But he does have his own style. You can hear other styles of playing on his website, besides to the "VH-esq demos" section, where he is blatantly trying to sound like EVH.

I miss the days of hearing new Van Halen, so I'm glad that there is a dude out there who is trying to make songs that sound like VH.

Craig is spot on about Eddie's playing in that 2003 Namm show!!! There are new things there that I've never heard Eddie play before!! The one bit that blew my mind away was when Eddie played something....and I swear it sounded like some spaceship landing!!! My favourite bit was when Eddie played some incredible technique that sounded like a blues harp!!! My jaw was on the floor!!!!! Eddie's blues playing is so overrated, the man is GOD!!!!!

The pick scraping from Unchained is so obviously a rip that it ruins anything else that's good. This was a problem with the last batch of songs too. Its one thing to be inspired by Ed (as are Vai and Satriani) but to cut and paste passages into your songs only works in Rap.

craig seems like a nice guy but i agree dweezil zappa can sound almost exactly like edward.it only makes sense being that not only did dweezil idolize edward but he is good friends with him and has hung out with ed.craig's pretty good but it does seem a little to much on the preamp saturation relying heavily on the phasey, flangey, chorusy sound.i was impressed with his mean streets intro on his website though.
