Well there is no doubt Eddie has had great difficulty working with his band members the last decade or so. That is except for family members, which you can still have disputes but make amends much easier. But part of alcoholism is dealing with resentments which taking a quote right out of the AA book "Resentments is the Number one offender". I am sure he is still dealing with it. After the all the bad feelings in the past over Roth, I doubt seriously if it is all behind them. They are working together for professional reasons. Even Roth said a few years ago Van Halen politics are very fragile and anything could set them off. I know he just wants to continue the reunion and make some new music and keep touring. This is his second chance to be back in a big band and make a ton of money. But it wouldn't take much for their to be another dispute, conflict, falling out, etc. A relapse by Eddie would almost guarantee it. That's what caused the last eruption between him and Sammy Hagar! He was drinking heavily on the last tour when they were going at it toward the end of the tour. But if he stays sober and everyone keeps their head, they might just make some new material. if they can get through an album and get it released, there will certainly be a new tour. But it's not guaranteed. I am not en Eddie hater, but I know things are still fragile. I love the Chickenfoot album, great songs sung by Hagar with some tremendous guitar work (familiar formula?). But also how nice to have a new Van Halen CD next year? Lets keep hoping!

People, I think it's time for some forgiveness what'ya say?

Let us all forgive Ed for his faults, whatever they may be. The same goes for Dave, Alex, Sam and Mike. Whatever any of these guys did to piss whoever off, let's just all forgive each other and move on. I hate to say this, but the Van Halen we have all known and loved is simply OVER. And it has been so for a long time now.

I too would love to hear a new album, but I think it will be a cold day in hell before we see another record stamped with the name Van Halen. Sam and Mike have their new thing and will most likely never work with Ed again. Same goes with Dave. The tour was awesome, but come on, do you really think that Ed and Dave will be able to stand each other long enough to produce another album?

Van Halen will always be one of the great classic American rock bands! Just cherish the music that they gave us from all the Van Halen eras. Play the CD's. Crank up the volume when it's on the radio. Congratulate Sam and Mike for their new success in Chickenfoot. The album really does rock!

Happy Trails All!

Hey Bocephus!

I response to you questioning Eddie’s music (e.g. "Up For Breakfast") Your right in one way, that was the final straw as far as I was concern with Sam ever committing music lyrical crime!!! In another world he would get “Life” for the atrocities he’s committed in Rock n Roll!!!!

IMO the music in "Up For Breakfast" was ASTOUNDING, STUNNING, AGGRESSIVE AND BRUTAL!!! It had the "Me Wise Magic" vibe to it. But as usual Sam with his lyrical crime and screaming vocals completely destroyed it. I can see why Eddie got on the booze again. I did too!! I think Eddie realize Sam is just not doing it for him. Is there any chance I can hear those 3 songs without Sammy's vocals? When I first heard "Up For Breakfast" The music had that danger and adventurous VH/Roth classic vibe to it. It had Diamond Dave written all over it!! I Thought "yeah when you’re ready Diamond Dave!!" And then Sam comes in with his......huh...Feelings' and stuff?...BORING!!!!! I agree with you "I'll Pass too". I thought this is really the end of Van Halen, I can’t take it anymore!!!

Shame really, such a monster riff by King Eddie and Big Al stretching the groove like no other and within a blink of an eye...GONE, here comes that same old, middle of the road, old fart Sam again!! You must know Sam is a repeated offender? Chickenfoot will meet the same fate...
