hate mp3 .
buying the REAL vinyl and cd .
hard copies baby.
June 5th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
oddly enough , there is more profit for selling a no-cost mp3 for 4 bux than manufacturing a cd and selling it for 15….
June 5th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Who cares about Chicken Feed, bring on EVH and Dave in 2010!!!!!!!
June 5th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
256 kbps MP3’s are great - I have an awesome stereo and I can’t hear any difference at all between 256 kbps MP3’s or an actual CD.
By the way, the album is FANTASTIC - and this is an opinion that comes from a die hard Roth era VH fan!
June 5th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
haha desperation anyone?
June 5th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
VH will sell the mp3 version for 3X the price…..the same with their tickets.
June 5th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Adrian,
They are not desperate at all. They are the #1 selling downloadable album on Amazon right now! And the #7 selling CD!
June 5th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
I actually wish all downloads were in this price range. $10 for an album and not getting any artwork or anything to hold is a rip off. $4 is much more reasonable. Good for them.
Rodney, VH charges more because their show costs more to produce. It costs considerably more to rent out Madison Square Garden than Irving Plaza. That’s the diplomatic answer. The better answer is that VH charges more because they know their fans are over 30 and have the money to pay for it. That’s not greedy, that’s smart.
June 5th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Regarding concert ticket prices - I hope by now that all people old enough to be VH & CF fans and post on VHND would realize that ALL bands CHARGE WHAT THEY CAN GET for their ticket prices.
I can’t believe that there are people out there who think that cheap ticket prices mean that a band is being “nice” to their fans. (Not that CF isn’t nice - they are - but they can’t charge what VH can, so they don’t).
June 5th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Just bought the disc and still gonna buy the album on mp3.
Amazing album. Sounds great.
I love “Turning Left” and “Future in the Past”.
I know the haters are still gonna piss and moan all over this but all I have to say is at least give this album a chance.
Good quality rock is good for ALL of us. It sure beats the hell out of the canned crap they call rock being put out today.
June 5th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
Note that the Amazon version does not contain the bonus track “Bitten By The Wolf”. To get that, you have to either buy the vinyl from Best Buy (it comes with a code to download all 12 tracks as MP3) or get it at iTunes (10 bucks).
June 5th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
can’t beat $4 …Amazon has this right + the band makes the same $$ even on the 3-day sale price
June 5th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
VH2008, you need to get you ears checked.
And to all the haters: Joke’s on you guys, the album sounds very good indeed.
June 5th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
Right on Karl!!!!
June 5th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
If I get my economics right, the price is what equals supply and demand. $3.99 then, that’s what it’s “worth”
June 5th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
The album rocks… It is cool to hear Joe Satriani in a real rock band. While Chickenfoot is no Van Halen, they are still badass.
June 5th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Hey… it’s available NOW on iTunes (US) too! DRM Free. $9.99 (Bonus Track Version) includes “Bitten By The Wolf.”
June 5th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
Can someone please tell me where the VAN HALEN site is that used to be here……….somehow they have changed to wall to wall coverage of a sub par band!
Thanks!
June 5th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
Wow, what a happy foot day it’s been so far!! Just saw the foot on the tonight show and they played “Oh Yea” and they sounded pretty damn good!!!! Chad Smith wore a I’m not Will Ferrel t-shirt - pure comedy!!!! Remember get your buzz on this weekend and leave all the drama behind!!!!
June 5th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
I love how all the ed clones are complaining about all CF news, and ‘where oh where has my little VH newsdesk gone?”
Well as you have been living in the dellusional closet for the past decade, VH hasnt got any news. No new tunes, no new projects, only sneakers, guitars, tuners and porno soundtracks.
Yes, Ed did venture out the other day, but even then he couldnt tell the truth and bullshitted about Mike.
Some of you may hate Sam, but you cant Mike, and Eddie pissed on him, so how is your hero now friends?
Bring on the foot, we all need a change from the bullshit, lies and false promises.
An alternative NOW exists. Embrace whats happening, not what is said to happen, we have been fooled too many times before, and we wont get fooled again.
June 6th, 2009 at 4:20 am
ENOUGH ALREADY WITH CHICKENFOOT!!!!!!!!!!
June 6th, 2009 at 4:40 am
ENOUGH ALREADY WITH KENNY THE CLOWN!
June 6th, 2009 at 7:32 am
i keep wondering why the sammy haters and cf bashers don’t get the fact that there is no vh news to report. at least we can hear about former members. get a f**king clue.
June 6th, 2009 at 7:37 am
EL C- Well said. It should never take someone so talented so damn long to release new material-They would have been nowhere without the fans-very little respect for the fans.
VIVA THE DESK!!!
June 6th, 2009 at 8:20 am
Hail to the sleepy brothers for snoozing and losing. The foot rocks!!!!! Hey scar-cese , lighting the fatty! …..Cough>.cough>.cough>>>…..Ere’…..it this’….
June 6th, 2009 at 9:44 am
“ENOUGH ALREADY WITH CHICKENFOOT!!!!!!!!!!”
“Can someone please tell me where the VAN HALEN site is that used to be here……….somehow they have changed to wall to wall coverage of a sub par band!”
“Who cares about Chicken Feed, bring on EVH and Dave in 2010!!!!!!!”
You Ed heads realize you are a broken record right? The owners of the website arent going to stop with Chickenfoot for one reason - Site Traffic.
Without Chickenfoot, this website would be dead and eventually people would stop coming to it at all. Does anyone remember the dark ages ala 2003 where NOTHING was going on?
So instead of acting like a lonely wife, be thankful chickenfoot news is keeping this site going. Cause other than that little burst of Ed news, you guys are going to be holding your breath for a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY long time.
Oh, and one more thing. Read the top of this website. It clearly says
“The Net’s Best Source for Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, & CHICKENFOOT NEWS”
NUFF SAID
June 6th, 2009 at 9:51 am
I got mine. It’s still growing on me, but I think it’s a decent rock album. And VHND, you go right on ahead and keep promoting the latest haps of all VH members, past and present.
June 6th, 2009 at 11:20 am
Next year nobody knows CF. Anyway, not bad album.
June 6th, 2009 at 11:38 am
Best Buy opened at 10:00am.
I had my CD at 10:05 am.
Had it blasting in my car at 10:08.
And at 10:15am got pulled over for speeding!!!!!
It was well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 6th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
to everyone still wondering why there isnt more van halen news on here.if you want a site that has van halen news only then just simply shut your computer off because its the same thing.
June 6th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
funny thing is that there is more of a chance for a new chickenfoot album next year then there is for a new van halen album.if you compare van halen sites like this in 2000 and this year it would probably be hard to tell them apart.
June 6th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Eddie Van Halen: The reason that I picked up the guitar 20 years ago. Joe Satriani: One reason to pursue mastery over the instrument. Eddie brought us the tap-ons & dive bombs. But, Joe takes it to it to a whole new level. I am so happy for Mikey & wish the Foot the best ! Without Mikey, VH has a huge void to fill both musically & vocally. Another example of Ed’s ego being the demise of something great. Let’s not forget who failed to appear at the Hall of Fame induction.
June 6th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
“Eddie brought us the tap-ons & dive bombs.”
Is that really what you think Eddie brought to the guitar? I’m always amazed when a guitarist doesn’t get it…
June 6th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Saw Chickenfoot on the Tonight Show friday night. Reminded me of a line in a song.
“I saw your band on stage last night, dancing around like a wounded duck!” Is Sammy for real? He could be on Dancing with the Stars. Maybe he took lesson’s from Celine Dion!
June 6th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Quit crying Karl….Ed’s making some mistakes right now and alot of people are upset…it is their right
June 6th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
good show with conan , conan’s cool.
very nice that joe ave conan a guitar .
the band is good , LOVE the way mike is amped up a lot more thanin the VH mix . sammy does need to give more thought to above-par lyrics , but i am satisfied about his performing ability.
getting the vinyl tomorrow !!!
June 6th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
pushtoshove: Eh, what?
June 6th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
I watched Chickenfoot on Conan, too. I’ve got to say I was underwhelmed.
Don’t know if it was just the song or the performance as a whole. I was excited to see them — I guess, I was just expecting more.
I’ll still get the album and give it a fair listen — I have liked a lot of the song snippets I’ve heard so far.
I did think it was cool of Joe to give his guitar to an obviously surprised Conan. Mike looked to be having a great time. I liked Chad’s drumming and shirt. But the whole package just seemed flat to me.
June 6th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
Karl,
Given the space here, I am disinclined to write a thesis about VH v. Chickenfoot comparisons. Yes, VH has a musical legacy. I’m not disputing that. From a musician’s point of view, there are qualitative differences. Its a fallacy to presume that musicians can’t appreciate the other intangible components of either VH or Chickenfoot.
June 6th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Wow, that’s great! After I got suckered into paying full price! I got a free download for buyin it on vinyl. But The pressing is pretty poor quality!
It’s an O.K. Album. Need to listen to it more, but. . . . Will Ferrell does an ok job, to much with the cymbals! Nice to hear Mikey! Sammy’s Lyrics aren’t much. Joe is a Bad ass player NO QUESTION , but the overall hooks don’t seem to be there. But, It’s a cool album all in all.
Hopefully, on tour they grow, and do another album.
June 6th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
I feel the same way about lots of music ( it seems flat ) but then I opened my mind to new ideas and let go of the past….It helps…I know old Van Halen May never be topped…but maybe it shouldn’t be. I hope the new stuff ( VH ) sounds very different.
June 6th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
DISINCLINED?THESIS?QUALITATIVE?FALLACY TO PRESUME? INTANGIBLE COMPONENTS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? GO HAVE SOME JACK, LIGHT UP A J, AND STOP AMAZING US WITH YOUR DICTION…cheerio old bean-
June 6th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
i don’t get why people get on a vh site and bag vh.then they try to justify it by calling vh fans “haters”.if i get on a chickenugget site and bag on them you “fans” would scream injustice.snatch is no eddie van halen.this band, while solid,is no vh.i’ll listen to the cd and actually enjoy some of the tunes but i’m not dilusional.eddie is not dead.roth is not dead.there is no reason to “let go” as someone has put it.vh rules.eat it.
June 6th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Happy Birthday Steve Vai
June 6th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
“I am not Will Ferril” Chad Smith is hilarious!! (His hair too!)
Solid performance on Conan!!
What the hell was everybody expecting? Riser jumps by Sammy?
Hey-Zues Chreesto…
Seriously.
So tired of all the Chickenfoot hate/smack/retardedness.
So sick of it….
June 6th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
Really good album…
Didn’t know how Satch would incorporate his style; very well done.
Blues licks with some shredding!
Comparisons to EVH? EVH hasn’t put anything out this good since F.U.C.K.
June 6th, 2009 at 10:31 pm
Rod: “Can someone please tell me where the VAN HALEN site is that used to be here……….somehow they have changed to wall to wall coverage of a sub par band!”
The Van Halen site that used to be here is still here. All you need to do is dig back about two years in the archives for the news, and more than 10 years in the archives for news of an actual new album. If all you want is VH news, just start reading back then and pretend you’re living in the past. I’m sure you’ll get lots of responses to your comments on those posts.
You’ll find several promises of a vast arsenal of new music from EVH since then, but nothing that you can actually throw down your money to buy.
I bought the CF album and I’d say it’s not exactly sub-par. Maybe not as good as the better VH albums, but certainly better than some of them. Absolutely much better than most of the crap that’s been released in the last few years from other so-called “rock” bands.
For pretty well every Van Hagar album, I had to listen a few times to pick out more than one or two songs that I really liked. I got 4 on the first listen to the CF album, so I’d say it’s a pretty strong offering.
And even if it’s the only album they ever make, or the only one that’s any good, I’ll be listening to some of it 10 years from now I’m sure. There are lots of one-hit wonder albums from 10, 20 years ago that are still in my rotation.
June 7th, 2009 at 12:42 am
sexy lil thing is my girls favorite and i have to say it has that certain sound that VH had with Sammy, is it just the fact that Mike is in the backround with great vocals and a drivin bass? maybe i’m just nostalgic or waitin for new VH and am used to hearin Sammy on the vocals with a great guitar player needless to say this shit makes my blood pump and cant wait to see these guys live! until VH 2010 comes round this stuff will satisfy me! Cold beer, Sticky bud and chickenfoot on the stereo = good times! feel sorry for those who just cant enjoy it! Rickyvanwhalen heres to you bro still waitin for that $500 post of your magnificent VH guitar lesson! ha ha!
June 7th, 2009 at 1:33 am
to each his own…..
I find most of the lyrics silly and the music isnt that knock you on your ass vibe I am looking for. Just not my thing!
I wish them luck!
But my point stands! whether vanhalen never puts another song out this is still a vanhalen site, not a chickenfoot site, and that is exactly what it has turned into. I would rather have old pics and stories about van halen than anything about this band……..just my opinion!
But I bet I am not alone!
June 7th, 2009 at 2:34 am
phillip m, my comment wasn’t a VH v Chickenfoot thing. It was a comment on your lack of understanding of what Eddie brought to the world of guitar playing. “tap-ons & dive bombs” are amongst the more superficial of the may things he showed the world. As I said, I’m always amazed when a guitarist doesn’t understand.
June 7th, 2009 at 7:17 am
Skutch - “The better answer is that VH charges more because they know their fans are over 30 and have the money to pay for it. That’s not greedy, that’s smart.”
I disagree - I think that is the DEFINITION of greed
June 7th, 2009 at 8:16 am
“I think that is the DEFINITION of greed”
You are so right about that it’s almost embarrassing that you had to point it out.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:21 am
Still #1 download and moved up to #3 selling CD
June 7th, 2009 at 9:09 am
4 dollars is all its worth !!!!! Boring !!!!
June 7th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
Your opinion is worth a lot less than that Stew!
June 7th, 2009 at 12:12 pm
Nobody here is saying that Chickenfoot are Van Halen or are on the same level as them. Everybody loves Van Halen, I presume, and thats why we’re here.
But whats great is that there is some new music coming from one of many portals of the Van Halen past. This is possibly the best work Hagar has done since Balance, it is so much better than “Cosmic Universal Fashion”, which was pretty shoddy in my opinion.
What we’d all like to see is a new album from Van Halen, or even just Ed. I’ve noticed how they changed the title of the article where he speaks about Mike from “Eddie promises new album in 2010!” to something else a lot more underplayed. Lets just hope they come to Europe.
June 7th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Let’s see how Dave and Eddie get along in the studio.
It’s a lot easier to get along with somebody for three hours a night on tour than it is in the studio where you have to work with somebody several more hours a day for months.
It is also a lot easier to play old stuff with someone than it is to create new stuff.
June 7th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
I think the album is good-sounds real good in the car, and I know it’s not CVH…..”It is what it is.”
June 7th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
Shit…I’d be happy to know they were even In the studio together…That would be history in itself
June 7th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
VH and Dave in the studio.. Here’s how it will go:
Ed’s ego and Dave’s ego will clash and no new music. Or things will move along so slowly because of the egos clashing and Dave or Ed will make a statement in the media like before and cause the whole thing to colapse and make Ed start searching for another lead singer. Maybe an American Idol reject or something. David Coverdale’s still around I think. It’s happened before kiddies and it will happen again. MARK MY WORDS.
I’m an eternal optimist, but knowing Ed I can’t help be a pessimist with regard to everything VH. He’s pissed a great legacy down the drain. This is a site for everything VH (past, present, and what ever future there might be). This means all current and former members of VH. Since former members of VH (Gary Cherone included) have been up to more things than EVH has in the past year, that’s why the site owner is putting their news on the site.
June 7th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
I can fairly say when I bought this album for 4 bucks, it was worth every penny, because there is only about 4 decent songs on this whole album. Watch them on Conan was watching a garage band. As the crowd reaction there was no standing ovation. I like satch on his solo stuff, but on this album he was held back. Chad’s drum play was very impessive. I felt bad for Mikey, he has lot talent, especially when he was part of Van Halen. He is just a bass play on this album. And Sammy, this shouldn’t be call Chickenfoot. It is Sam’s band with better musicans. Sam is a very talent singer when he with Van Halen until he left the Band. You have the solo carrer, wabos even ChickSatch. Nothing to brag about. I wish this album rocked. I hope next concert when they comback from Europe will have material for satch’s solo, chili peppers, and Van Halen/Hagar…
June 7th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
OUTSTANDING RECORD !!
4.5/5 stars
9/10 on a ten scale
these thumbs up !!
( middle fingers at the haters )
excellent hard rock - old school record.
June 8th, 2009 at 4:38 am
vhrocks,i hope you are wrong but history speaks for itself. it is possible that the fact that ed and dave need each other will keep the egos in check enough but who knows but if they cant make it work then its truely over for both of them.
June 8th, 2009 at 5:53 am
Sammy Rocks
June 8th, 2009 at 6:22 am
can someone direct me to a site where I can download Bitten By the Wolf or can someone burn me a copy?
June 8th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
Jeezus Christ jedi664, just pay the 3.99 and download it legally, ya cheap bastard.
