It is great to hear that the Ed is still pushing forward.
The VH line-up has certainly found its ups and way downs, over the years. I do not claim to know him personally but I have spent short periods of time with him and their growing list of alumni – I have seen the unpredictability and ignitable temper, that so many refer to. It is difficult to hear and comprehend statements that state “.. he quit” or “I’m not the bad guy” when any seasoned adult knows that there is always more than one involved. It takes and makes an even wiser adult, to admit it. If Valerie, Sammy, Michael, and previously DLR are falsifying and/or falsified what has now been written in books, then shame on them but this doesn’t appear to be a collaborative effort.

For himself, his son, his second marriage, and the future of Van Halen, I hope his efforts and integrity re-gain its foundation. The benefit for any long time Van Halen fan may be the absence of future live shows where Ed is unable to maintain composure, play his own instrument, or remember his own material.

I have been a EVH fan from day one, adored him and followed his rise/fall/rise/fall/rise to fame etc. etc. but hearing how Ed talks in interviews pre’84 and afterwards makes me sad on how Ed manages to become two completely different persons, the shy humble kid and the conceitedly proud liar. tsk tsk, I honestly do not know how genuine a human being Ed is. I still love his music and still play his licks, but his persona turns me off lately. In fact, everytime I read a new VH article, I’m going like “hey, maybe he’s changed for real” which left me dissappointed after reading this article. It’s still his old self sans alchohol and drugs. The “I’m shy, nervous, so I let my guitar do the talking” attitude crap/show is wearing so thin I believe it’s eating him from the inside. It’s time to lay your cards on the table Ed, you are so wrapped up in yourself, you ain’t God, you’re just human, and a very poor example of one at that. Take a hint from your son, who’s a much much better example of the species. You owe us that!
