Well, I guess if we can’t get new music from Van Halen, at least we can look at some photos.
Nice of Diamond Dave to share these gems.
No go make some new music boys.

Not sure I recognize the white Frankie without the pick-guard. Don’t think that I’ve seen it this way before. Presuming that is in-fact Frankie.

YAY! THE DAVESICLE!
April 23rd, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Interesting for the Roth camp to put up classic Van Halen photos. So far so good I guess. I guess this means there are no tensions between Roth and Van Halen. Hopefully all is going ahead according to plan *concerning new material*.

I think all is well and we will absolutely hear a new Van Halen CD before 2012, as long as Dave can refrain from saying something like “Tonight’s about me, not your f*ing hip” to Eddie. Of course probably no Michael Anthony which is a bummer, but he’s got his Chickenfoot now so it’s all good.

Great Pictures! I have never even seen the “Davesicle” before. I wish that I had been old enough to have enjoyed Van Halen in the early days.

To start off i would like to say how exciting it was to see these old pics. Being a die hard CLASSIC VH fan since i was 10 years old…a lot of these pics I’ve never seen. It was great getting a glimpse of what “the good ol’ days” was truly all about: living the ultimate rock n roll dream.
The band looked so good back then. Kind of reminded me of old zepplin pics whe THEY first started! Van halen made such an impact in the rock world that I advise anyone who’s young and getting into classic rock music…this is what you need to study. These pics and the first 6 classic van halen albums. This is how a rock band should look and sound….raw. This was before sappy ballads ruined the band and the stellar image it created! These pictures are truly priceless and im so happy to know that Van halen w david lee roth is still intresting after 30 plus years in the biz…
You just cant erase rock history….or the orginal line up. Granted its not 1984 anymore but how many albums from the late 70’s / early 80’s still sound as fresh and mindblowing as when they were first released. I’m happy to know that classic van halen is one of those groups…..and these pictures tell the story! Man Van halen was so fucking cool back in the day…

PS) I absolutly LOVE the pic with the skeleton hand holding up the classic van halen logo. Shit…they should use that as the new album cover…
April 23rd, 2009 at 2:33 pm
I’d love to see the photos they cant publish.
April 23rd, 2009 at 2:41 pm
I wounder if i can get the last one as a poster for my wall.

April 23rd, 2009 at 8:12 pm
the skeleton hand should be an album cover. The pics are a reminder of an awesome young and hungry band, that did’nt sit around counting thier money.Unfortunately it’s thier favorite hobby nowadays.

April 24th, 2009 at 2:44 am
nice to see that dave is still doing something for the fans and not trying to sell us anything (yet)
i think he too is happy with his life and accomplishments like sammy and ed is not happy if he is not miserable
now that was the old ed and with his son and new wife to be at his side hopefully he can be happy and
make a GOD DAMN NEW CDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!
i mean dave can email the vocals for god sakes and meet for the tour - just make the damn album for god sakes
this will be the 12 studio release if we ever hear it.
April 24th, 2009 at 6:07 am
A lot of really good positive responses excluding chickenjoes lame ass remark. Some people will just never get it man…
ANYWAY! I had to see the pic’s again today! Man do i WISH i could have seen them back in their prime! These pics remind me, (in a world full of disposable music, american idol, and b.s. talent ) of how exciting music, especially rock, used to be. You got your money’s worth and the show….was a show! Thanks again DAVE for showing us a little piece of an amazing life you boys lived back in the day. There just isnt that substance or excitement anymore in the music biz. So happy to have these visual memories.
Now lets get some old concerts released on DVD and i’ll be a happy duck!
April 24th, 2009 at 7:53 am
Amazing, I guess the skeleton hand with the logo was meant for the VH 2 cover, the hand has 2 finger up.
Anyways thanks Dave!
Hope you and the boys get in the studio after Ed’s wedding.
April 24th, 2009 at 7:57 am
I agree with Ben and mjc! the skeleton hand photo should be the cover of an album or maybe the new album!!! VH RULE!!!
April 24th, 2009 at 10:03 am
Wow. Who’da thunk that Dave would be the classy one to include cool pic’s of Mike. That will probably piss Ed off.
I know deep down he wishes that Mike would have been on the tour. He pretty much said so in that Rolling Stone interview before the last tour.
April 24th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Is that a fracking smiley face on the index finger of the skeleton ?
April 25th, 2009 at 3:33 am
Love it, love it, love it! You’ve just got to love Diamond Dave!
April 25th, 2009 at 11:10 am
The skeleton hand image was used on an advert for Van Halen II in the UK in ‘79. I found someone selling it on eBay a while ago. I have a very small resolution version of it, with text, at my photostream on flickr.com - http://www.flickr.com/photos/25850089@N03/
April 26th, 2009 at 3:10 am
Great pics - thanks Dave!!
April 27th, 2009 at 2:04 am
This is probably old news to many of you, but if you haven’t already heard this then do a YouTube search for: ‘Edward Van Halen interview 1982′.
Came across it yesterday. It’s an 8 part telephone interview and from the sound of it Ed doesn’t know he’s being recorded so he’s quite relaxed and quite revealing. Cool stuff.
April 28th, 2009 at 10:33 am
Those pictures are awesome and fun to look at. Maybe DLR can put out a video of the last tour or write another book for us to enjoy. I enjoyed reading “Crazy from the Heat”. I hope they all know how many fans they really have out here! VH (with DLR) will forever be my favorite group and I am passing my love and appreciation for the music down to my 7 year old. Thanks for the pictures and the 07-08 tour that made my year!
