While I’m on here today I would like to give some thanks to The Van Halen Store. I ordered the red/white shoes last week. That was my first order, and even though it was a small order I have since received two email updates from them about my order that have kept me posted on when the shoes will ship. It’s just two little update emails, but it makes a huge difference to me!

Wow, Sam and Chad and even Joe seem to be smokin - a lot of dope that is….. Chad looked like a homeless drunk, Sammy looked edgy and Joe (or the reasonable facsimile of him) was out there. Hell, when Mikey’s the sane one, and he’s talking to a bird, that’s something..
That said, Hell Yeah I’m looking forward to this. Got me a ticket to their Toronto show with a buddy and looking mighty forward to it. Liked the sound of the trailer music at the end too.

I think Chad is making a statement in this video…you have to be drunk to enjoy drumming to such painful lyrics! Most people are only going to see Joe shred on this tour anyways.
rockenvelop, you were onto something…Ed could fart in a mic and it would probably sound better than this. Sorry people but there’s nothing original sounding or groundbreaking so far on these few new tracks. Hopefully the rest of the album has something better to offer than this.

Did anyone have a problem with getting “fan club” tickets? I couldn’t upgrade my membership(for some reason-due to chickenfoot web site error?) to get presale tix for $50. Instead I attempted to get tix today when the tix went on sale to the public only to find out that all general admission seating is sold out and the only thing that is left is the $225 VIP tix. Suspicious? Sounds like collusion between Ticketmaster and Chickenfoot. What a scam!

Ya know, I’m waiting to hear the whole CD before I decide whether this Chickenfoot project will work. In the beginning, I thought the plethora of Chickenfoot promotions was kind of cool, in a keeping-the-fans-updated kind of way. But after watching this clip, I’m starting to get the uneasy feeling that the hype is going to completely overshadow the actual product. I mean, how is watching four guys act like complete fools prove one way or the other whether this group will rock?
Seeing a clip like this almost makes me start to appreciate the Van Halen approach of don’t tell us anything until the new album drops.
In the meantime, I guess I’ll have to have my intelligence insulted with talk of buying crap in a box.

Karl, are you serious? Thinking that this sucks has nothing to do with being a VH fanboy. Believe me, there are millions of music listeners out there that won’t care for this either. Even if VH never existed, this still wouldn’t appeal to me, and that’s okay. If you like the music, man that’s awesome, but the defense “VH hasn’t put out a CD since yada yada yada” is so weak.
Look, I’m glad they guys are having fun. I was really looking forward to it myself. Heck, I have 2 guitars signed by Satch. However, from the three songs I’ve heard, I was really disappointed. It has nothing to do with Eddie or hating this person or that. I just think Sammy writes meaningless lyrics and the music is just bland.

Man, these guys get me excited! Capture the old Van Halen sound and bottle it up with a shot of laid back Sammy. Satch and Eddie pray to the same Guitar Deity; they have such a similar soulful sound. And Chad’s Drum are solid, but without the symbol smashing piazzaz of Alex. It’s finger licking good!
And by my opinion. All Van Halen is good. Dave is good. Sammy is good. Mikey is good. Eddie is good. Alex is good. And hell… Gary is good too. (First live concert I ever saw mixing the Best Of Van Halen by any Lead Singer of the band.)
So why all the hate for Sammy on this site?
Sammy has done his time. If you don’t like it, let it pass.
But I love all Van Halen.
And Chickenfoot is made up of a half of a band of a certain configuration of Van Halen.
Chickenfoot is now my “Alternate Universe” Halen.
And the music these guys make, the more Van Halen there is for me.
And that’s just a good thing.

Just face it, the songwriting resembles Montrose/solo Hagar at best. Chickenfoot is simply a vehicle for Sam and Mike to get more exposure, for Joe to broaden his market, and for Chad, to not have to take himself very seriously. In the process they might just have a little fun- but don’t expect Fair Warning or even Balance.

The truth:Van Halen is either going to release material with Roth that sounds very unlike the old stuff ( Hence the term ‘New Music’ ) ..They will have it out with Roth and hire a new singer ( Sammy or Someone else ) and release material that sounds very unlike the old stuff or They will release new material in about 12 years that sounds very unlike the old stuff. The guys here telling people to stop whining ( whether pro or anti VH )are very angry and bitter..and I don’t blame them because the irony is that they are angry and bitter while defending OR attacking Ed and Co. because of the very way Edward and Company have conducted themselves for the last 25 years. Wake up people and just smile.

And as for Chickenfoot…eh, I ain’t fond of them, but at least their doing what makes em happy. I for one love the tunes and am excited as hell about the album and tour!!! It shows in the music that they don’t take themselves or life in general so seriously, and listening to it certainly gives me a nice break from the B.S. that I am sure we all have to put up with on a day to day basis!! I don’t like Bon Jovi, never have and never will. I don’t go to there website and bitch about their music or Bung Jovi’s horrible voice. Point being, if you don’t like Chickenfoot, Dave, Mike, Ed, or Sam - that is fine - but what sense does it make in coming here to complain about any of them. Add something intelligent to the conversation. I’m just sick of the same arguments on every post: Eddie has done anything in ten years, Sammy’s lyrics suck, Daves lyrics suck, etc… Everyone in this band contributed in a meaningful way otherwise there wouldn’t be this kind of following. Enjoy what is out there and what is to come.

I gotta say, now that SCAR is adding some of Sammy’s older lyrics into his posts I am starting to notice that even his older material sucked!!
And the gentleman that posted about all of the pre-video releases and news about the band overshadowing the actual product has some great insight here. I know these guys have to promote this, especially after hearing the lyrics they are going to need to promote their ass off, but watching four BEYOND grown men act like total idiots is starting to have as much of a negative effect on me as the way below average lyrics on the songs.

SCAR what’s up man, when someone doesn’t think like you the best you can come back with is an insult! I think you might be the one that needs to take a look at himself. What is the problem for real, mommy didn’t love you enough, Daddy wasn’t around to tell you it isn’t O.K to dig dudes sexually? I don’t know what it is man but you may want to talk to someone about it, other than your boyfriend.
As for me, I am livin’ the dream brotha as I play music in a kick ass band that gets a lot of props in our area, and a lot of local radio play. I’ve been playing the guitar for 24 years thanks to seein’ Eddie on tour back in the 5150 days with BOZO the big fat clown. We gig out 4-6 times a month and it is the time of my life. In fact I’d like to extend the invite to our next show to your little lady (if you have one, probably not though) or, hey why not invite your mom down too, and trust me we’ll show them the time of their life and they may even like the music!!
And what’s in my wallet, plenty actually! Probably a bit more than whats in yours I’m guessing which again may be why you are so angry. Chill out man and listen to some more Chicken crap if you want to. It’s cool and this forum is for opinions so let me and everyone else voice ours just like you do yours. Am I right about Sam and his new band, maybe, maybe not!! The Chickenfoot guys definately look like they’re having fun though! It’s nice to see Joe in a band setting and I’m sure he’ll go off more live too. Hagar seems to be burned out lyrically now though or he just doesn’t even care anymore what he writes? I thought some of his lyrics on VH’s Balance album were great though, especially on The Seventh Seal. This new stuff however is about 5 steps back lyrically…high school stuff at best here. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the music on this album though.
BTW…what’s up with this scar guy? He sounds like a total tool!

The reason I wont buy this album is because of Sammy Hagar. There is something about the guy that strikes a nerve. I never bought a VH album with him singing. The last VH album I bought was 1984. Chickenfoot is good but they would do better with another singer. Should be a good concert, they will be covering all of VH songs plus red hot chili peppers.
I can get that for free here in my hometown, with a better singer.
The hype should be over by now for this band. Enough said , Sammy sucks, the rest of chickenfoot is awsome. Erase the lyrics and fill in with guitar……..

Yeah I agree man. It definately sounds like scar missed out on a few hugs growing up. He sounds like the cranky, lame ass neighbor who tells you not to walk on his lawn! Poor guy just doesn’t get it either. He’s been dismantled so many times online already that I almost feel sorry for replying to him. There’s definately some deep seeded issues going on there…homeboy needs a check up from the neck up pronto!
Anyways, enough of old man mullet. That’s cool that you play Jake. I play guitar too and a little bass. My buddy has a studio where we go to jam and record. What kinda gear you got? I got a Peavey Wolfgang Standard(the one w the contoured body & tone & volume knobs) & a beautiful SRV signature strat that I love to play. I’m playing through the Line6 Spider Valve Bogner head and one 4X12 cab right now. Keep tearing it up man! What’s the name of your band by the way?

ok vhnd i’ll go along with the whole chickennugget affiliation with vh and whatnot.just please promise me when the new vh record comes out we’ll be focused on that.i know, i know naysayers ,it will be 10 years until eddie releases material,wolfie’s no mikey,they’re all washed up,i spent 800 bucks on the reunion tour and walked out on the 3rd song,the sky’s falling,etc.etc.i still believe in the mighty vh and always will.not saying the newsdesk doesn’t and i have nothing against this site just making an observation of some of the comments posted.

Thanks for the kind words guys, this SCAR dude is somethin’ else but the funny thing is, the more we chat about him the more wood he gets over it so I am done with that. He sucked me in to his childish world for one post and that was one too many.
My band’s name is Magnesium Jake and thanks for askin’. We mix up a lot of classic and alternative rock influences and try our best to keep it heavy and energetic. For gear I was using the Spider Valve for the longest time, it is a great amp and I absolutely loved the tones I could get with the metal amber channel but now I have settled in with a Carvin X100B reissue for recording and an Egnater Tourmaster for giggin’ out. I play PRS guitars mostly and my number one axe is a standard McCarty and my number two is a standard Mira. I love their feel, and for tone my opinion is they can’t be beat. I used to play a seafoam green Wolfgang by Peavey but ended up selling it to get some cash for the Mira.
Van Halen has always, and will always be my favorite band and don’t get me wrong I really like the stuff Sammy did with them, and lyrically he had a lot of real moments on 5150, For Unlawful, and Balance, but now I don’t get where he’s goin’. He is almost a parody of his former self and I hate to see him drag such great musicians like Mikey, Joe, and Chad down with him.
Anyway, cool talking with you guys, and everyone else on here. I know now that I have given my band information out SCAR will be all over us with great comments but whatever, that’s just how love goes I guess!! If you guys want to hear some tunes we are at myspace.com/mgjake. Later everyone,

Yeah the McCarty PRS’s are tasty guitars with sweet tone indeed! Cool, I’ll check you guys out on myspace. I totally agree with you about Sammy lyrically too man! He use to write some really good lyrics…5150 & Balance. But now it’s wierd, it’s like he doesn’t even care what he writes or what nonsense comes outta his mouth…kinda like scar!
BTW, scar is living proof that the unemployment rate is sky high in America right now!

Wow what is this a high school vanhalen page ,people act your age,well most of you,ALL THIS FIGHTING and not much inteligent talk.I for one am looking foward to chicken foot.Theres a lot of talent there and in the state of music today everyone else should be to.NO1 SATCH WRITES SUCH GREAT MELODIES it is going to be great to see what he can do with a real band,and one loaded with talent.As far as all the Vanhalen talk hey they were one of the greatest bands ever with the greatest rock guitarist ever but lets face it I along have been waiting for ED to come out with an ass kicking guitar driven album from the gut for to long now,even if he did a solo instramentel album he would shake up the world but maybe he and Axle can get together and release something 30 years from now.I mean he didnt even show for the hall of fame,I was so looking for him to melt the place at the show ending jam.Maybe he was just home at the time puting tape on guitars he was selling for 25k how greedy you want to be .I have come to the conlusion ED is a prick.All the years of bad mouthing DAVE then SAMMY,you never wanted to believe it was EDS fault but when he gave MIKE the boot that was the one for me.And all this hating on SAMMY who I never even like before he was in VH cmon they were great with him, maybe not as dark and on the edge but theres a lot of grest music there.and as far as ED goes after hendrix everyone thought that the guitar couldnt go no further well ED sent it to another universe,as far as rock gods hendrix is the old testament and ED the new.

Ed was in rehab during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony…when isn’t he rehabing though? You can possibly blame Sammy a little for Ed’s relapse with the booze…I mean wouldn’t you hit the bottle hard too if you had to play guitar to a turd song like Up For Breakfast? That just happens to be scar’s favorite tune while he’s browsing the want ads by the way. Hopefully this new gal Ed’s engaged to and set to marry this year will help keep his ass clean and get him back in the studio soon to make another kickass record!! The few Chickenfoot songs I’ve heard are ok but so far it’s typical Sammy teenage lyrics to go with them.
