Van Halen videos made by fans, part 2

Tuesday, 14 April 2009

Good Enough:

This was filmed in ‘86, by Curtis Lanclos, who says, “This is a music video created in 1986 by me and my friends (Gene, Mike and Matthew) from Cash Control at Six Flags Over Georgia in 1986. I was Eddie Van Halen in the video. Gene was Sammy Hagar, Matthew was Michael Anthony, and Mike was Alex Van Halen. Additionally, at the very end is a tip of the hat to Turtle’s Records & Tapes, the greatest music store in the 80’s!”

Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love:

“sphen5150″ edited together this video by editing amateur video, mostly from the July 6, 1993 Middle Town, PA show. The audio is perfect, soundboard quality.

Jump:

A Cappella version by Justin Sousa and the MIT Logarhythms:

And now, the grande finale, Panama:

Another one by “Sphen5150″ - the audio and some of the video is from the audience-shot, Montreal 1984 concert, which is mixed with the official “Panama” video, unreleased Van Halen footage from 1983, and MTV’s “Lost Weekend With Van Halen” footage. It really captures the fun of Van Halen:

  1. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

    Ahhhhhh! The good ol’ days!
    Man do I miss em!

  2. Rocko says:

    All four were good.

  3. ROGER says:

NERVER SAW DLR HALEN HAVE THAT MUCH FUN AND CLOSENESS ON STAGE AS THEY DO WITH SAMMY

  4. pushtoshove says:

Here we go again ….Roger is it?I think the Sammy lover Dave haters always try to start fights…I am ignoring them from here on out and for the record I always liked both incarnations. This whole Dave verses Sammy thing is Boring and stale….Zzzzzzzzzzz. Come up with something original for a change.

  5. SCAR says:

Hey Roger, just enjoy having the best of both worlds with DLR and Sammy!!! Even Gary created some magic with them!!!! Party tunes like that makes you have a damn good time!!!!!

  6. mjc says:

a lot of fun, more of them!

  7. SirFrankenberry says:

Ok .. See 1:28 of Panama. Which band member decides to f…
up and almost skip the 2nd verse and go straight to the guitar solo! A little too much JD for somebody perhaps?

  8. ROGER says:

scar ill roll with that both dave and sam are great just seen to much negative shit on the new band.

  9. Mike OD says:

Any way we can get rid of all the Sammy Hagar material… It’s not real VH.. Nothing against the guy but he ruined the band for years… ” I’ve got a line, you grab that pole, I’ll meet you down at the old fishin’ hole????” I mean please.

  10. Pete says:

What’s with the Karaoke & Lip-Synch videos? Is the VHND trying to bury the Chickenfoot NEWS items to appease the wishes of those that want to pretend that VH did not end in 1984?

This is pretty lame stuff, and not up to the VHND standard. If someone’s really interested in this kind of stuff then You Tube is full of it.

Given the lack of actual “news” from VH, and the flood of great news & music from Chickenfoot, do we have more of this kind of filler to look forward to? It’s going to be a MINIMUM of 5 years before VH does anything, so it’s a shame to dive into this kind of filler too early.

  11. TOP GUNslinger5150 says:

Man!! That Panama clip just says it all!! CLASSIC!!! VH at their meantest and raw BEST!!!! What a shame they never brought the 1894 Tour down under. But I guess 99 shows sold out is a good enough excuse, but this is the Van Halen we know and love best!!!!

  12. Jrocks says:

I can’t believe roger’s comments about fun on stage…DLR was the definition of fun with Van Halen…that was the biggest change for me when Sammy entered…the real raw fun just wasn’t there anymore. It seemed manufactured. I appreciated Sammy as well but that’s when VH became just another band to me.

  13. Dan says:

This is as good as American Rock N Roll gets.

  14. Jor-L5150 says:

the thick dude singing ” jump ” actually has a powerful voice.

  15. Big Al says:

    Hey Pete,

If you don’t like it ,you can always go to CFND. I’m sorry that’s right, they’re not that significant of a BAND to warrent their own NEWS DESK!

So in the meantime ALL US Van Halen FANS will put up with the Chickenfoot FILLER until Ed,Al,Dave and Wolf have rested up from their HIGHEST GROSSING TOUR EVER!!!

    Hey Pete,

Which casino will you be seeing Chickenfoot’s show at?

  16. phil says:

probably the same casino DLR use to play out and will play at again when eddie has his next mood swing…

  17. pushtoshove says:

    Touche’ Phil…..

  18. craig says:

    BURN!!!! Well said Phil!! Haha!!

  19. Pete says:

BIG AL…I saw their “biggest grossing tour” as you call it twice, and that is such a completely meaningless statistic to cite as some kind of proof of relevance.

That tour was WAY overpriced, and even if it was simply priced at whatever the average ticket price price is these days, EVERY stadium band’s current tours gross more than they did back in their heyday. (For example…POISON…need I say more?)

I really respected what Sammy said about the ‘04 reunion tour, “I wish the ticket prices didn’t have to be so high, and it could have been friendlier.”

By the way, the ‘04 tour was their highest grossing tour too, so does that mean it was more relevant than the 1984 tour? Of course not. But I can see you’ve clearly drank the kool-aid so logic of any kind is probably completely wasted on you.

There were some great moments in last year’s tour, but there are several solid reasons why it’s not being made into a DVD. But those reasons can be debated, so I won’t bore you with my interpretation of them.

Highest grossing tour…that was the most hillarious argument I’ve ever seen attempted here man…way to go!

An no, I didn’t buy any of the $60 t-shirts or any of the other overpriced merch at the counter…it looked like KISS was schooling the boys on maximizing revenue by sucking your fans dry of their last dollar in the name of feeding their nostalgia fix.

  20. Pete says:

Oh…and one last thing…I’m seeing CF in Europe and at least twice stateside Big Al. If you can drag yourself away from the Monster Truck rally and get yourself to one of these shows you’ll actually get to see a big-time rock show, which is more than you’ll be able to with VH for at least 5 years…

  21. Rubbing Wit Da Debbol says:

I’d pay big bucks to see the actual reunion. Hell, I’d pay even more to see both eras together on stage. It could be done if old, drunken, grouchy King Edward wanted it to. But the last thing I’m ever going to do again is shell out $200 a ticket to see The Van Halens featuring DLR.

  22. phil says:

rubbing wit da debbol, i agree i’d pay big money to see both eras together. hell, i’d pay to see chickenfoot open for VH. don’t worry the almighty dollar always speaks in the end. it may seem crazy right now but i guarantee a both era tour with mikey one day and wolfie on rythmn guitar. it’s all about the $$$$$$. some promoter will get it together…..but again, it’s sat nite and i just dusted a 12 pack so it might be just wishfull thinking. HA!

  23. TOP GUNslinger5150 says:

“Hey bartender!! Buy ‘Phil’ a drink…piss in it for me!!”
Hey all you cringe worth, Sammy lovers…move on please, Van Halen are back!! They a plotting and planning as we speak, it’s ringleader the Diamond One and the greatest gunslinger ever to walk the face of this earth are gonna make history again…VH always re-write history again, its in their blood!! Why is it evertime I hear the name Chickenfoot I think of forstly KFC instead of a band? Something their for you to ponder??

  24. Yes! says:

Sammy Hagar was in Van Halen? When was this? Did they ever release any albums…if so, I may have to give ‘em a listen.

  25. phil says:

TOP GUNslinger5150….chill brother just enjoy your daily throat yogurt and relax buddy. this is van halen, which means we are eventually gonna have about another 4 or 5 singer before they die. it’s all good!

  26. Pete says:

TOP GUN…I’ve pondered your question about why Chickenfoot makes you think of KFC.

The only thing I can think of is that you have a bit of an eating disorder and you associate completely unrelated things to food.

Does Poison remind you of Burger King? Maybe Motley Crue reminds you of McDonalds?

You asked us to ponder, and this is the best I can do. I have a mental picture of you and it isn’t pretty, but it’s summertime so maybe you can get outside and take care of yourself a little baby.

By the way, when I think of Chickenfoot, I think “new album and tour? Awesome! Just like Eddie and company should be doing!”

And I truly hope they do. But in the meantime, I’m stoked.

By the way, KFC is probably the most unhealthy of all the fast food…but you probably have long since stopped caring, so just smile and enjoy yourself baby.
