I am surprised it took a whole 30 minutes before the “this is a van halen site….” comments started popping up.

The interview really had nothing to do with Chickenfoot. Seems like Greg didn’t do any background beforehand. This band is almost the successor to VH.

First, I hope the Chickenfoot project is a success and that the album is great when it is released and I get a chance to hear the whole thing.
But tone down the fantasy, Eric. You’re comparing a band that hasn’t even released a record yet to the greatest rock band in history. I suppose next someone is going to say their music rivals Led Zeppelin? (Oh wait … the singer already did that, too.)
Let’s limit the hyperbole. There is, and likely never will be, no successor to VH.

Chickenfoot will NEVER hold a candle to the MIGHTY VAN HALEN! Watch how quick the shows sell out this summer when Van Halen tours. They are notorious for waiting until the last moment to really rock your freaking socks off. I look for Van Halen to wipe Chickenfoot off the map!!

Sam didn’t play the convention in St. Paul, but he was paid to do a private performance at 1st Ave. Why would anyone care if Sam was right or left. The difference between him and the outspoken leftists out there is that Sam doesn’t push his political agenda on you. I’m sick of liberal know nothings with no mind of their own who preach to us when all we want to do is watch them perform their craft at the highest level.

Like it or not Vinny,both Mike and Sammy were both a huge part of VanHalen, and it is always good to hear what the past members are doing with their time and creative energy. I for one, as a musician,WILL APPRECIATE anything that another talented musician is putting out, especially these ones, because they were a part of something that was very special and important to me in the past. Ofcourse nobody can hold a candle to VanHalen…..as they once were, and I don’t believe that they are even trying to. They are just continuing to do what they love, which is play, record, and perform music!!!This is not a competition of who is better, just a case of 2 musicians moving on. If you can’t move out of 1984, then don’t buy the chikenfoot album…..but please, don’t expect everyone to be as close minded and moronic as you……it just isn’t possible.

NO. john mccain palyed ” right now ” at some small campaign rallies , and was handed an immediate cease and desist. sammy said he didnt care , he was flattered either candidate would use it. van halen had no political objection , they wanted to remain neutral and since it was a van hagar song they ( VHIV ) would rether focus on CVH songs.
also- the Kerry/edwards ticket occaisionally played ” DREAMS ” at campiagn stops.

answere : no , he is not. he hated george bush. bush was featured derisively in a revamped ” right now ” video made for the 04 van hagar reunion.

answere : it WOULD be odd , if this were the official van halen site . it isn’t. it is a fan-based site devoted to van halen ( any extant version ) and peripherally and y van halen alumni. presently ONLY vanhalen alum are active and therefore a vanhalen-related site can only cover van halen alum.

Hey, I may not share all Sammy’s political views but I like him and his music. It has been said before, politics is a whole other subject than Music. The two do intermingle, but as long as the music is good, who cares. I find the lyrics of VOA to be quite disturbing but it’s a kick ass song.

I love it when people go out of their way to condemn an artist because of their political beliefs (even as, in Sam’s case, they don’t preach them) but they hardly ever say one damn word about artists whose ACTIONS are often abominable.
Drug rehab? Skipped shows? Adolescent behavior? Mornonic political blatherings during concerts? “Hey, they’re rock and rollers, what do you expect?”
Be a Republican? “Oh, we can’t have that….whacko!”

To the person who said Sammy hates George Bush, why did he contribute to both his political (Presidential) campaigns? Just do a google search “Sammy Hagar George Bush” and you’ll see all his political contributions (on Newsmeat) are all Republican based, including contributing to both of Bush’s campaigns. And I seriously doubt he was happy Obama won if he’s a life-long Republican.
