    1. Kayzer Sozay says:

Lo how the mighty have fallen.

    2. JVH says:

I don’t care what you say, these are cool, man.

    3. Sean says:

      HOLYSHIT!

    4. Joe Oz says:

What took him so long?? Better late than never. I’m getting the red & black/yellows

    5. Beau says:

Finally! (Now I don’t have to “attempt it” on my own shoes!)

      Thanks, Ed!

    6. Bran Halen says:

I made a pair of these once out of red Chucks and some crappy fabric paint from a craft store and they looked like complete crap. I’m glad these are finally available!

    7. mjc says:

      AWESOME!

    8. Adam says:

Well I’ll be damned. The shoes look awesome.

    9. Bran Halen says:

Just placed my order for the Red/White’s. Can’t wait to get them!!

    10. Swank says:

Doesn’t sound like new music to me. Maybe if I hold the sole to my ear like one of those old novelty phones. Hmmm…

Seriously though, I made a pair of these when I first saw Eddie wearing them. Pretty simple. I used acrylic artist’s paint. VERY durable.

    11. Rocko says:

Wow!!!, Cool, they also have black/yellow and white/black too.

    12. Rubbing Wit Da Debbol says:

I wear black high top Chucks all the time, but I don’t think I could do the red/black/white in public as much as I REALLY want, lol. The white/black look doable though. Neutral enough to wear with a lot of stuff.

    13. ben says:

      They are amazing!

    14. Jor-L5150 says:

not as cool as my chickenfoot shoes , buuuuuttt……

    15. Brandon says:

chickenfoot shoes is where it’s at!

    16. Kevin says:

crap, i gotta get some of these…. i might get all 3 colors theyre so cool

i would most definitely wear these in public.

    17. Me says:

Talk about a conversation piece! Those have got to be the coolest thing you can wear to show you’re a VH fan.

    18. Gonzalo says:

      Give me 3 pairs! :D

    19. MA=VH says:

I’m not big on Eddie’s marketing efforts without some new music but these are damn cool.

      MA=VH

    20. Rodney says:

      OMG
I would laugh at anyone that wore those down the street
      BUY BUY BUY!!!
Buying these might get u guys and DLR back to the 80’s

    21. Mark Sachs says:

I saw Ed on the III tour wearing a leather pair of Converse basketball shoes striped in his famous pattern. I actually was on the second row in Hershey Park, Pa. and snapped a really great picture of him wearing them. I called Converse and spoke to one of their reps. about the shoes. The lady told me that the shoes that Ed was wearing wasn’t on the market and that they were custom made just for him. Converse did the same thing for Axl Rose during one of GNR’s tours. I remember Axl’s shoes because they had his name on the tongue in big red letters. I will be getting a pair or two of the new Eddies.

    22. Myron Philpot says:

Anyone want to venture how many shoe strings had be evaluated by Ed? (80+?) Perhaps the eyelets are made by the same medical instrument supplier who makes the tuning machines, etc. for the Wolfgang. Glad to see Ed’s hooked up with a footwear company who “gets it.” ;-)

    23. Chris Van Harley says:

Come on Eddie! Shoes? Ah, who the hell am I kidding. I have to get a pair. These are pretty damn cool. Wanted a pair since I saw them in Charlotte on the 1993 tour.

Ok Eddie, but I still want a DVD of the 83 Oakland Show.

    24. Fab says:

Coming up next: the new, official EVH vegetable steamer. Note the greatest graphics in the history of rock ‘n’ roll on the outside. Now you too can eat healthy and look cool while you’re cooking broccoli and carrots… by Ronco.

    25. jim says:

we get shoes before new music!!!

    26. dave says:

I’m tired of all this chinese crap eddies shelling out to all of us with his trademark slapped on it. The only thing I will be buying from him in the future will be NEW MUSIC!!! Bet on that!

    27. paul wilkinson says:

its about time.hope the VH store delivers to england!!

    28. Jim M. says:

I’m really torn on this one - I just don’t know how I feel about it. On the one hand, yes, they are cool and I want a pair. On the other hand, how is Eddie able to find time to release products but no new music? Maybe he’s secretly mixing a DVD of the last tour, but I’m not holding my breath.

I hope it’s true that Dave will be recording with the band again soon as they’ve claimed. How about throwing us a bone in the meantime? It would be awesome to have DVD quality footage of the old videos, unreleased videos, unreleased live footage, interviews etc. How about a CD with samplings of unreleased live recordings, unreleased studio tracks? These are things I would be excited about. And it would make releasing Frankenstein shoes acceptable and appropriate.

There was a time when I would have been first in line to get a pair. I guess I’m becoming jaded after all these years of silence. Any Van Halen fan that’s seen Ed’s shoes has secretly or publicly wished they could just go out and buy a pair. Now that they are here…I’m just not that excited. Give me some new music and I’ll buy the shoes too.

    29. RickieVanWhalen says:

I buy the whole damn inventory if EVH simply farts inside of 5150 recording studio and releases it. Come on Ed, give me a break.

    30. Eric says:

Ed, if you ever (and I doubt you do) read these posts, here’s some marketing advice. Your customer base consists or millions of people. I’m willing to bet that the majority, probably 90% or more are simply music listening customers. You need to produce a product for them. Yeah, the guitar stuff is great, and more power to you for pursuing that market, but you are ignoring your largest potential market. Produce some new music and you’ll make loads of dough. I doubt that the average guitar player, myself included, can afford a $3,000 instrument especially during these economically challenged times. And if by chance you guys do start touring in the near future again, give us a break on the ticket prices. Jesus Christ! I have to work 2 days to afford to see a show, it’s getting ridiculous! Come on Ed, GIVE US A BREAK!!!

PS: The shoes are cool, but I’m not shelling out 60 bucks for them.

    31. Dan says:

Isn’t it funny how Ed criticized Sam and Mike for promoting their goods and here’s Eddie marketing some goods of his own. Just some food for thought, so let’s discuss.

    32. phil says:

tequila, hot sauce, shoes…i got no problem with it. capitalism at its best.

    33. T1m says:

They are cool, but, like everyone else is saying, we need some new music!

    34. pete says:

capitalism does rock,i just wish van halen would.

    35. Nat says:

“On the other hand, how is Eddie able to find time to release products but no new music?”

To release these products, I’d be willing to bet all he has to do is sign on the dotted line. Probably a whole stack of licensing agreements at once - 10, 15 minutes tops. It’s not like he’s toiling away in some hidden workshop, designing and building all these products with his name on them. Someone else makes the deal, works out the licensing terms and then he just signs his name and cashes the check.

To release new music, he has to actually spend time writing and recording it, so it’s going to take a little longer.

Like 10 years or more apparently…

    36. Keith says:

      Simply amazing ! A genius

    37. pushtoshove says:

I really want to believe in Ed.Maybe he has lost the fire or maybe, and I am just supposing here , maybe he feels like smoking drinking and using when he writes? And he doesn’t want to go back to that….he is 53 and that’s a lifetime of habits that go with writing music….maybe he’s trying to find his way back to just being inspired by his guitar alone…

    38. Jim M. says:

Nat: You are 100% right. Ed probably spent all of a few hours total from giving permission for the idea, approving drafts of the designs, and finally signing documents. And that’s OK - he’s earned the right to live that kind of lifestyle. I believe capitalism is good and I say more power to Eddie, Sammy, and Mike as they sell guitars/gear/clothing, tequila, and hot sauce respectively. Ed’s guitars and related gear required much more time and participation I am sure. It’s good to see him active and productive. Like everyone else here, I believe, we think these projects should be one notch down on the list, after recording and releasing music (either new or old).

With that said, Ed has the resources to release the audio/video collection set we have all dreamed about since ‘box sets’ were conceived. The Van Halen camp has hundreds if not thousands of hours of audio and video recordings just wasting away, possible degrading in quality. They have the monetary resources to pay for a small team of professionals to sort through and assemble an incredible package that I believe would outsell every VH release prior. This could be done with minimal involvement and effort on the band’s part. However, I am sure they would want to oversee and even be a part of the sorting and remixing and packaging. And there would be quite a few legal issues to sort through. I just wonder if the band members care enough to become motivated and tackle a project like this.

There is a wealth of material being traded and sold as bootlegs. Like many fans out there, I have a collection of these recordings. But we’ve always fanaticized about having official releases pulled from the master recordings. I’ll turn 40 this month and sometimes I wonder if I’ll be 60 or older when the Van Halen ‘estate’ finally begins to market these unreleased recordings. Checking in on this site and giving my opinion is kind of fun and just gives me a glimpse of the old days. I’m not living my life around what these guys do or don’t do next. I’ll live a happy life if they never release another minute of music, old or new. But it sure would be nice for the fans that were there from day one, through the ups and downs, supporting them all the way…to be treated to something special. Cool as they are, the shoes don’t fit that description.

    39. Mink says:

I think the shoes look cool and maybe if the inspiration hits me I’ll buy a pair, but I don’t see the difference in selling shoes to selling tequila or hot sauce. As much as Ed put Sammy and Mike down for selling their products this is a pretty hipocritical thing to do. To me it looks like Ed ended up with his foot in his mouth…or his shoe! They should all do what they do best and play music. That’s why we’re all here reading this crap.

    40. Karl says:

OK, now it’s official, Edward has absolutely no shame. He can’t be bothered to get off his arse for 10 years and go to work yet he still expects us to buy anything and everything with red and white stripes on. He’s not even trying to disguised the cash grab anymore. They do look cool, though…

    41. SCAR says:

I think what EDVH is doing is just fine. If everyone out there could market and sell your own crap, you would do it too! Quit bitching about new music. It will get here when or if it gets here- it’s that simple! Deal with it and quit acting like whinny little punks!!!!

    42. pushtoshove says:

Hey scar…I think he is doing fine…but that has nothing to do with losing the fires of inspiration Though…And i think it is good for him that he is marketing and making cash because you’re absolutely right, i would do it if I could….But it just is interesting to me the whole situation because I play and write and man oh man I love to play while toking and drinking….

    43. pushtoshove says:

You gonna have a beer this weekend scar-cese? ( like ’scorcese’-the director)

    44. Karl says:

I’d have no problem with any of this selling if he was doing his day job and I’d have had no problem if he was selling any of this while putting out Fair Warning, 1984 or F.U.C.K. But when you’ve not done anything for 10 years all this does is remind us that there’s nothing left in the tank. And that’s a sad and cynical thing to witness.

Point is, if you sell me some genius music it’s a fair exchange for the pennies in my pocket. If someone just shoves a contract under your nose and you sign on the dotted line then children in Malaysia paint some sneakers red and white… well, basically you’re attempting to steal off me. Shouldn’t be doing that to the people who made you rich in the first place. But sadly, the only thing Ed and the boys care about anymore is the retirement fund…

    45. VH2008 says:

I understand why countless VH fans would LOVE a pair of these. I can also understand why countless other fans wouldn’t feel the need or desire to get a pair. The only thing I can’t understand is why anyone would COMPLAIN about the fact that they exist! LOL.

When I go to the store, I don’t walk around pointing to things and tell strangers how stupid it is that they make everything that doesn’t interest me…

    46. Mike Ampleman says:

Cool shoes but I’d rather prefer a new VH album. Don’t ya!!

    47. Karl says:

“When I go to the store, I don’t walk around pointing to things and tell strangers how stupid it is that they make everything that doesn’t interest me…”

That’s what the store does for a living. Ed is supposed to be guitarist…

    48. D Rischling says:

      To Karl and others,

Selling merchandise is part of being a rock band. I can not think of any rock band that isn’t very much interested in merchandising. There was clearly a demand for the shoes, as fans have been making them for as many years as Eddie has been wearing them.

Sammy Hagar & Nickelback don’t make shoes because people don’t want Sammy Hagar or Nickelback shoes. There is no demand for them. But if there WAS a demand for them, you can bet that they would make them. It’s just like t-shirts. Every band that is popular has a fan base, and a large portion of that fan base likes wearing merchandise that represents the band.

How is Eddie selling shoes any more of a “cash grab” than when any other band or artist makes any other item of merchandise?

Newsflash - every single thing on this entire planet that is for sale, or has ever been for sale, is a “cash grab.”

If I was Eddie Van Halen and had millions of fans, and many of them would love to buy shoes that had the striped pattern that represents me and my guitars, you bet your ass that I would make them available. All it would do is allow me to make some money by giving people something that makes them feel good. It’s a no-brainer.

    49. pushtoshove says:

VH2008 doesn’t read comments all the way thru…he just reads what he doesn’t like and then comments on it….we’re ALL saying where’s the new music?

    50. pushtoshove says:

D Rischling doesn’t read all the way thru either

    51. Karl says:

pushtoshove, I think you’re probably right about that. Or maybe they’re a bit slow on the comprehension thing… lol!

    52. D Rischling says:

      Push,

Yes, like many of us, I’m sure you’re frustrated because you can’t wait for new VH music, and yes, I’ve read lots of comments all over the VHND of people asking “where’s the new music?” But we’ve already been told that VH is getting together to start working on an album in July.

And I bet you’ll say to that, “Yeah, but Ed’s been saying that for 11 years!” In which case you’d be wrong.

Over the last 10 years, he’s said, on a couple occasions, “I’ve got enough music for several albums worth of material,” but during nearly all of that time he didn’t even have a singer, and he didn’t say anything to imply that he was about to start releasing music without one.

So, from 2000 to late 2007 (besides the 3 new songs in 2004), no one was under the impression that we should start getting excited for new music from VH anytime soon.

During the entire last 10 years, the only times that Ed said that a new album was actually going to be released some day were two times, both since they reformed with Roth:

#1) When they announced the 2007-2008 tour, the band implied that they would indeed make more music with him, AFTER the tour. Well, the 9-month tour ended 9 months ago. Since the tour, Ed has been working on all the guitars & accessories, and I’m sure taking a big break after the tour.

#2) Two months ago when he did press for his new guitars, Ed said that after his wedding, in June, the band will start working on new music for a new album.

So, for 8 years, Ed never even implied that he was going to release any album at all, and only since Roth came back did he say he will, and it seems that nothing that has happened since then to change that plan.

But Van Halen’s legacy is complete, even without any new music. If Ed actually changes his mind about making a new album, does that take away from all the countless, awesome songs that VH has made? Of course not. We’ll always have those 100 or so songs to enjoy. And if VH releases a new album, do you think that will change your life much? How can they possibly make new music that is as good as the magical stuff they made in their glory days? If Zeppelin reformed for an album, do you think it would be as good as the old ones? Do the Stones or Aerosmith make music as good as their old music?

I am a lifelong fan of VH. And I have always totally enjoyed their music & their tours. And I am a fan because of the music they made from 1978 - 1995. And that will never change, no matter what new music they do, or don’t, release.

And that’s why I think the shoes are cool. Because they remind me of all the great VH music that has been part of the soundtrack to my life, and always will be.

Eddie also made the new guitars, but that doesn’t affect my life at all, since I don’t play guitar. Because I am a generally happy person, mentally stable person, I am, naturally, not upset that he took time to make something that is of no interest to me. Good for him, and good for the guitarists who buy the guitars.

However, the shoes are another story. Yes, I did order two pairs. I think they look neat. And frankly, it makes me happy just looking at them. And I anticipate that when they arrive in the mail, I will feel just a little bit like a kid on Christmas. It’s kinda funny to say… I’m 38 years old, and I can’t wait to wear them to the gym and around town. And that’s a good thing, because it is not often that I actually get excited about the idea of owning any pair of shoes or articles of clothing. So I am embracing the excitement. I think it will be fun. And fun is why I’m a Van Halen fan. I try get get as much fun out of VH as I can.

The reason for being a fan of any band is because you get FUN out of it. To enjoy the positive things that you get out of being a fan. Not to complain about what the band does not give you.

    53. pushtoshove says:

I think the shoes are cool…i think the guitars and merchandise is cool….and i think Van Halen has a great music catalog….I do think though that the people here who are asking for new music are loyal fans who would love some new stuff…since you are quoting Van Halen then you must quote Roth who said during the press conference that Ed endorsed by the way ” Meet us in the future , not in the pasture “….It is no fantasy that Ed Lags and procrastinates and it is quite humorous that he says contradictory things so I am complaining formally and I am laughing at people who like being misled and or strung along…and Everyone’s reason for being a fan of anything is their own….I just prefer not to bask in glory days when the promise of something new is constantly dangled in front of me. Ed Made Things This Way With His Flip/Flopping Comments And Promises…dont know about you but when someone is talking out of both sides of their mouths I call them on it.Especially when they have a history of doing so.Fool me once shame on you , fool me twice shame on me…or should i say ” We Wont Get Fooled Again ! ” . Good day to you Mr. Rischling.

    54. pushtoshove says:

But i think the most telling thing here is…Many feel that Ed did this as a one time thing just for the money…I went twice to see them on this tour and quite frankly I did not and DO not care if they did it ‘just for the money’ as there were no new songs and this was purely a nostalgia tour…But keep lying to my face and eventually you will insult my intelligence so perhaps those defending Ed here are the types who like to rewrite history and say whatever needs to be said to save face…I am not and if Ed proves me wrong by releasing new stuff with Roth Than I will be glad…If he does what history has shown us he does…The only person who will look bad is Him and His current band,Not me…..Only fools ignore the odds

    55. Aftershock says:

      To D. Rischling: Well said!

People can post on here after every new story that’s on here every day … “Where’s the new music?” It’s not going to change anything.

Ed said the band was going to work on new music after Wolf’s graduation and Ed’s marriage. Now, if those two events happen and the band still doesn’t get working on a new record, then you all will have a beef. Until then, get over it and enjoy all the news and products that are coming down the pike. This is an exciting time because for the first time in years, there is hope on the horizon. So, you can either pass that time pissing and moaning every day, or you can enjoy what we already have and patiently wait for a great product.

As for me and my house, we will rock out to the great VH music we already have and we look forward to anything new when the time arrives.

It’s just rock and roll, people. It’s about fun.

Thanks for the great updates, VHND. I tell ya, after passing through years in the cone of silence regarding legitimate VH news, I am digging looking on this site every day for something new.

    56. Karl says:

pushtoshove, couldn’t have said it better.

And just to be clear, Ed didn’t say…

D Rischling: “… that a new album was actually going to be released some day”

Aftershock: “…the band was going to work on new music after Wolf’s graduation and Ed’s marriage.”

What he actually said was: “First, Wolfgang graduates, and then Janie and I are getting married. Then we’ll sit down, give Dave a call and ask him if he feels like whooping and hollering a little bit.”

Sure, it’s more promising than anything he’s said for a long time, but it’s still noncommittal at best.

And guys like me and pushtoshove are not ‘pissing and moaning every day’, we’re just telling it like it is…

    57. Rocko says:

I had a feeling that the red/white and black striped will be sold out fast.

    58. Dave Bridge says:

From a Guitar hero to fashion guru. No wonder he can’t produce any new music, he’s to busy signing on the dotted line!

    59. SCAR says:

All this over shoes!!! This is funny!!!!!!!!!!!!

    60. Big Al says:

      Pushtoshove,

      It’s OK to be SCARED!!

Ed hasn’t LIED to you, go back and read past VHND articles!

Ed promised the FANS a tour. It HAPPENED

Ed promised new and exciting MUSICAL GEAR. It HAPPENED

ED promised the FANS COOL Fashion wear. It HAPPENED

Ed said, wolf needed to graduate. It’s GONNA HAPPEN

Ed said he was getting MARRIED. It’s GONNA HAPPEN

Ed PROMISED NEW MUSIC. YOU’RE SCARED SHITTLESS. CAUSE HE HASN’T LIED YET!!!!

So get your BLANKY and PACIFIER and a BOX of TISSUE’S and hopefully, your MOMMY can make it all BETTER!!

    61. SCAR says:

How about EVH Beer? Call it Bottoms up! The beer cans will have the same stripes as the EVH shoes!!!!!!!! This way you guys can pitch a bitch and catch a buzz at the same time!!!! Some of you need a beer buzz because, you guys are way to uptight!!!

    62. Karl says:

      Hey, Big Al

      “Ed PROMISED NEW MUSIC.”

You might want to check out what Ed actually said before you engage CAPS LOCK next time…

    63. Eric says:

      Scar,

I’d buy the EVH beer as long as it’s not NA!

    64. bort says:

These shoes would look great when I wear my zubaz. I’ll wear these shoes when I walk to Best Buy to buy the new Chickenfoot CD.

    65. SCAR says:

We need more EVH beer! Keep brewing Eddie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    66. pushtoshove says:

      Well said Bort

    67. Adrian says:

scar could you possible not be a dick 24/7? O wait nahhh that would be way to pleasant.

    68. ace5150 says:

      Are they stain resistant?

We were thinking of us each buying a pair but are afraid we will spill hot sauce and tequila on them.

      Sammy and Mike

    69. pushtoshove says:

I’m gonna buy a pair with my alimony money Val.

    70. Ross says:

This is a lot of bitching for some over priced chuck’s….LOL!!!

    71. Deez Nutz says:

Go ahead and laugh at me when you see me wearing them, I’ll even give you a GUARANTEED souvenir EVH foot in the ass! Can’t wait!

    72. Van Zeppelin says:

I tried to make a pair of those myself for the 2004 tour. They looked sloppy, and the first time it rained, they got ruined… and my socks, too! I’m glad he finally had them professionally made. The red ones are a must-have. And the black & yellow ones are sooo 1979! LOL.

    73. Wayne says:

Heh, the black & yellow ones really are so VH II! You can almost hear “D.O.A.” and “Bottoms Up” when you look at them!

    74. Scottso says:

I made my own pair back in the early ’90s. I used them for a Halloween costume. The only thing I’d buy from VH these days is a CD of new music… I guess Eddie’s not getting any money from me!!!!!!!!!!! Rock on, CHICKENFOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    75. lucky me says:

For the last tour, I paid someone to make me a red pair. I can’t tell you how many people freaked out about them at the concert. several people offered to buy them right off my feet. It’s about time he made these for people. And it looks like they really turned out nice.

    76. jcn says:

Great sneakers. Anyone notice in the CNN clip that Eddie was jammin the same riff from that Namm clip from “behaving badly” whatever that meant. Apparently that’s his fav right now. “HEY”

It’s like a hybrid of loss of control

    77. jcn says:

That had to STING when Valerie did a backflop in the pool.

They got the shot though. Your brave Val.

    78. jcn says:

I sold my Valvestate 40 the other day. After 17 years. I’ts tooo loud for my small apartment It was like saying goodbye to a old friend. Who knows were that amp will end up. Still wanna take my picture with Eddie like he did with Clapton.

Got a Kodak disposable on you?…….

    79. SCAR says:

Hey Adrian, sorry the aliens left their probe in you. Enjoy!!!!

    80. Aftershock says:

Yo, Karl — I didn’t quote Ed directly, that’s why I didn’t put quote marks around anything he alluded to.

But I’m glad you did. “First, Wolfgang graduates, and then Janie and I are getting married. Then we’ll sit down, give Dave a call and ask him if he feels like whooping and hollering a little bit.”

I guess it will be up to Dave then?

Regardless, “the band” will not be working “together” on new music at least until “after” Wolf graduates and Ed gets married. Ergo, there will be no “new” music from “the band” until sometime “after” those two things occur.

So, your solution is to post on every bit of news on here between now and then: “Where’s the new music?”

You say potato … I say potäto.

You say tomato … I saw tomäto.

You say “calling it like you see it” … I say “pissing and moaning.”

Again, if “the band” does not get together to “whoop and holler” in a timely fashion after the two aforementioned events, then your “calling it like you see it” actually will have some relevance.

    81. Karl says:

I know you didn’t quote him. But you did interpret what he said as a promise and the shouted it…

    82. Aftershock says:

No, you interpreted my interpretation as a promise. I simply viewed it as when Ed anticipates working with the band on new music.

The point is still the same: If those events come and go without the band working on new music, then go ahead and start hammering away on the “Where’s-the-new-music?” drum again.

But what’s the point of doing it every day between now and then, when we know that’s the soonest it could possibly start?

That would be like me hammering Bud Selig every day between now and October, saying, “When are you going to give me a World Series champion this season? If you can’t give me one now, I’m going to start following the Japan leagues, you know, because they have some former Major Leaguers in their lineups, and they’ll give me a champion sooner.”

And, for the record, I never shouted anything.

    83. Karl says:

Eh? You didn’t interpret Ed’s words as a promise? And you didn’t shout?

Aftershock says: “Ed PROMISED NEW MUSIC.”

What are you doing dude? Are you trolling?

    84. Aftershock says:

Uh, dude, you have me confused with someone else. I could make it easy and specify who, but you’d probably be better served to look it up yourself.

To paraphrase what you yourself boldly stated: You might want to check out who actually wrote what before you engage your CAPS LOCK accusations next time …

However, if you’d like to actually address the worthlessness of your where’s-the-new-music-broken-record battle cry — at least until after Ed’s marriage — then, eh, I’m all ears.

    85. Karl says:

Ah, ha! FULL APOLOGY DUDE! Yes, I confused you with Big Al. I was hot on someone else’s tail when you responded to an earlier post of mine and I didn’t pay that much attention to who was responding to what. Your response fitted neatly with run between me and Al. Crossed lines!

My real problem with the no new music is that I have a terrible feeling the VH tank is empty (I mean, listen to the crap he did for those porn films!) and that talk of a zillions songs waiting to go and vague promises of a new album are all just intended to keep us on the hook and buying his kit for as long as he can eek it out. This band looks as if it’s retired but they’re just not letting on. It certainly wouldn’t be unreasonable to look at the last tour as happening for no other reason than to pump up the retirement fund (btw, I went from London to New York to see ‘em, so it’s not like I’m not keen). At the end of the day, no-one will be more pleased than me if I’m wrong.

    86. Mack says:

That’s great news about the shoes.

Now, when are we going to get a Summer Tour out of these guys?

    87. SCAR says:

Look at it this way, even if EVH never released any new music, we all have a collection of classic VH tunes with DLR and Sammy!!! Most of us that come to this site are privileged enough to have been their with VH since the beginning and what a bitchin ride it’s been!!!!!! C’mon raise your glasses and toast the mighty VAN HALEN!!!!!!!

    88. pushtoshove says:

      ok…no more broken record….VH Rocks!!!

    89. Aftershock says:

Hey, Karl, it’s cool. I can see how that would happen.

I can see where you’re coming from and can understand the skepticism. Man, I love this band — but do recognize that they have blown many opportunities along the way. As great as the band is, I’m left to wonder how much greater they could have been without the wasted years, the blown Hall of Fame opportunity, etc. etc.

But all of that has brought me to the point where I have to love what they have been able to give us over the years — and anything new on top of that, well, that’s a bonus.

Even if the last tour was solely a cash grab, and maybe it was, I say, “Bring it on.” I had a fantastic time at the show I went to, and even if it’s the last thing they do, the memory of seeing Dave and Eddie share a stage together again will last the rest of my lifetime.

I’m optimistic by nature, so I am very hopeful that a new record will emerge. I could be wrong — but at least until those events that Ed talked about pass and nothing happens, then I’m going to hope for the best.

Flying in from London to New York to see the show? That’s dedication! I only had to drive 5 hours.

But we would both probably agree that it was worth it.

    90. pushtoshove says:

I saw em twice and it cost me and even though i couldn’t afford it I will have those memories for a lifetime.

    91. 5150Rocker says:

Anyone else think it is pretty sad that we as VH fans are reduced to getting excited about a damn pair of sneakers? Never saw that coming back in the Fair Warning days!

    92. pushtoshove says:

guess its a testament to just how good the music is

    93. TIM5150 says:

AMAZING!! ALL OF THESE COMMENTS MOST GOOD SOME NEGATIVE BUT OVERALL A HUGE ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING RESPONSE. THIS JUST PROVES WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG. 97. pushtoshove says:

Hey Tim…relax on the caps bro…

    98. Karl says:

Don’t ya just love the ALL CAPS fanboys!

    99. 5150Rocker says:

TIM5150..You’re right. Sometimes I get caught up wanting more from VH and end up forgetting about the legacy they have already given us.

But to clarify, I’m not bitter. Just disappointed with the way things have gone for VH.

    100. junon says:
