whatever!! it’s chickenfoot! please…..now i know we all get tired of waiting on the van halen camp to do something but there is a reason we have hung on for all these years……..because it’s worth the wait, most of the times. im sorry i love mike and satch rocks and i miss some of the van hagar stuff, but i refused to be sold on this poor attempt to fulfill my van halen fix. VHND please stop with chickenfoot! i thought this was all things van halen not things that used to be and wish still were van halen!!!!!!

I agree and i thought thats was a bit much too. I dont mind a update every now and then, but come on!! wheres all the cherone updates.lol im just saying chickenfoot aint no van halen and its a poor excuse for excitement while once again waiting for van halen to shit or get off the pot! afterall the wait is just what you get w/ VH and we all do it. no matter how pissed you get you buy it when it comes out, and usually your happy for a while. unless it’s a best of!!! im not a sammy hater i loved the guy when he was in but now he’s out. let it go. please VHND let it go!!!!!!
P.S VHND, you guys do a awesome job on all thing VAN HALEN

I think some of the peeps here should just join a monastery. All you talk about is “oh we should be waiting instead… in silence… no chickenfoot, no excitement!”
Waiting… silence… not getting excited…
That sounds like a funeral. That’s not what Van Halen was ever about. Van Halen is dead to a lot of us, and a little bit of its spirit has been reincarnated into Chickenfoot. With the best living guitar player in the world and the vocals that made pretty much every Van Halen chorus ever recorded. So hell yeah there are reasons to be excited!!!

I’m good with ANY news. And this is great news. I’d even be cool with any Gary Cherone news. Asking VHND not to post any Sammy or Alex news is just fricking stupid. Get your VH news somewhere else if you have a problem with it. On the one hand, this Sammy versus Dave stuff is kind of funny and at least there is some banter in the forums. On the other hand, it gets old. Grow the f up.
It’s cool to see the guys having fun, joking around. I expect the tour will be a lot of fun. What the hell is wrong with that? Mike and Sammy are staying relevant. And I don’t care if they sell hot sauce and tequila at the shows - it will rock and I will be there. They appreciate the opportunity to to what they do - and they love the fans. It shows. They have my respect.

Chickenfoot ain’t meant to be Van Halen. It’s just Chickenfoot. And who’s to say, if VH ever do get round to releasing any new material, that it’s going to be any good. I wouldn’t bet the farm on them producing another Women and Children First, Fair Warning or 1984.

I really am glad SOME one is trying to keep Rock-n-Roll alive…I’m not sure Sammy’s exactly Shakespeare with his lyrics but i for one sure could use more party songs like that….just in case I decide to drive down the coast Fri night with the windows down to grab a beer….Just in case….And Chad Smith is hilarious because he looks like a comedian and he acts like one too!

little dreamer if van halen is dead to you and lot of the people on this site perhaps you should think about chaning your name “little dreamer” and maybe signing onto redrocker.com same for you jim. try redrocker.com and you too can listen to exciting music like mas tequilla!!! or maybe a little chickenfoot!! myself i’ll stay here on the van halen website and listen to the real thing. with hagar or roth it’s van halen that brings this page together. i agree with tim5150 get rid of this contrived boring ass non van halen inspired chickenfoot. you can bust tims balls for being “stuck” on or for “waiting” on van halen , but afterall this is the VAN HALEN NEWS DESK!

Thanks v5150h i didnt think i would be attacked for liking van halen on here but whatever. hey jim of course mike and sammy are haven fun selling you hot sauce and tequilla and look like they are having fun. they are! on you….all they do is throw some lame ass riffs out record it and tour and sell there stuff at the shows and your standing there like a wanker with your wallet out. i know ed haucks his fair share of evh brand. but at least there is a little muscianship and songwriting there to back it up. i dont care what anyone say’s sammy is not relevant. your crazy if you think he is. i loved him in vh for the most part. but on his own he is terrible. long live vh. even if they never put out another album. i didnt buy all there albums magazines bootlegs and anything i can get my hands on because i thought they appreciated me. i did it because no one, NO ONE. bring that “f” er home like ed and the boys. be it sam or dave or mike or wolfie.

Well here we go again, another Chickenfoot update and more comments about VH (quote “Over to you VH”) I’ve read people say to others on this VHND eg; the who’s better Dave or Sammy slugfest, Eddie’s the biggest arsehole in the universe, where’s Alex?, Dave can’t sing high and Wolfie’s fat etc, etc…
If Van Halen are such arseholes then why was their 2007/08 Tour the biggest grossing concert in their history?
But the VH bashers/Sammy lovers will give you the typical ‘expensive tickets’ excuses etc, etc. BUT!! Understand ONE thing, Van Halen found their mojo with Dave back in. It was always meant to be. Eddie and Dave are at their best and most creative when their together!!! Damn I wish I was living next door to Eddie’s house so I can listen in on the most incredible music being born again, and that is VAN HALEN!!!
This Chickenfoot already is starting to sound old, move on now!!!

Chickenfoot sounds nothing like Van Halen so what’s the point in comparing the two? I hardly believe that Satch needs to play with Sammy to rescue any failing guitar attempts. He is not trying to be Eddie and when he plays the Van Hagar songs it will be an ultimate respect and tribute to Eddie. Sammy’s voice sounds great and it’s rad that he hooked up with a badass guitarist. Rock n Roll is rock n roll and Van Halen isn’t the only band on the planet. It’s funny how Van Halen’s “biggest” fans only seem to talk shit about Eddie. I’m sure he dying to release new music to fags like you. When it comes it comes. Zeppelin hasn’t released anything since when? Oh and Jimmy Page has a signature guitar too so I better start knocking him and Plant for not giving us anything new.

The only reason it was a top tour was because VH hadn’t been with Roth for 20 years-not to mention the ticket prices.. I saw them a few times. It was good but not great. I wanted it to be. But it wasn’t.
I respect all versions..Dave, Sam, and Gary. There are not many of us that fit this profile, but don’t fool yourself.
The only reason it was as big as it was, was the wow factor. and as much as you wanted it to be old dave VH, it wasn’t.
So if you like VH, take what you can get. This is all gravy. Nothing more to prove here Iceman.

Dude from Oregon… we shouldn’t bag on VH for not releasing any new music because Led Zeppelin hasn’t either? Really? Maybe you haven’t heard the news but Led Zeppelin, after their reunion gig, made it clear there won’t be new music. EVH, on the other hand, keeps making promises of new music and talking smack about how much music he has in the can, but never delivers. Big difference.
To those of you who post on this site all the time yet criticize VHND for running stories on Chickenfoot, ask yourself what you’d be posting to on this site if there was no Chickenfoot stories. Sure as hell wouldn’t be anything about Van Halen.

We are not going to get any Van Halen tour or new album this year because they have too much going on in their personal lives. Hopefully things will get moving again in 2010. Until then let´s at least enjoy the pure Rock and Roll of Chickenfoot. It´s better then nothing and certainly the crap that they play on the radio. If Sammy, Mike, Satch and Chad come my way I will be going to the show to checkem out!

This band seems like a lot of fun - I’ll bet the two songs we’ve heard are most likely B-sides and not nearly the best on the CD. I’d be very surprised if Mike or Sammy mentions or bashes VH. I’ll bet they they don’t go there, because they don’t need to - they’re in a good place, have a band full of great musicians who they like and are friends with. I’ll bet there is mutual respect here, too. They look like they’re having fun and jamming. Who cares if Sam’s lyrics suck… This band jamming more than makes up for it. There should be no comparisons with VH whatsoever…2 different animals. Just enjoy it while it lasts. Maybe someday Eddie will get around to being a musician again instead of a rock star/salesman, and he’ll put out some new music…

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz, yeah yeah yeah, Dave isn’t the best singer ever and Sammy can hit higher notes. zzzzzz… What Dave clearly understands that Sammy doesn’t is that singing is only a small fraction of a singer’s role in a band. No one, and I mean no one, works a crowd like Dave. Dave was drunk as ever at the US Festival and that show was legendary.
Sam could never work a crowd like Dave, nor will he. It’s only by some unexplained tear, a ripple of sort, in the time/space continuem that somehow…by some power we don’t understand… Sammy ended up as a rock singer and not a waiter at Appleby’s.

SKUTCH BABY…did you catch the Sam & Dave tour? Last year’s VH tour? Sammy KILLED Dave on the Sam & Dave tour, and there isnt’ a review I’ve read to the contrary.
I respect your loyalty to your preferred VH singer, but even when it comes to ranking showmanship and command of an audience you can’t be referring to the Dave I’ve seen in the past 20 years…but he was definitely a wildly entertaining force in his day.

I disagree with Skutch, If Dave can get the crowd going, Why didn’t he on his Solo tours after “a little ain’t enough”?, He’s lost it after his “filthy little mouth” CD. Sam has gotten the Crowd Van Halen and Post Van Halen tours. Dave, Ed, Al and Wolf better get things going if y’all want to see more of the current Van Halen in the News Flash. As the Chickenfoot, these guys are sick. Keep it up.

I didn’t see the Sam and Dave tour unfortunately, but I saw the 2004 VH and 2008 VH tours. I thought Dave was way more entertaining than Sam. The Sammy show felt like I was at a gig in a frat house, whereas Dave came to blow the roof off. The setlist on the ‘08 tour just rocked so much harder than the ‘04 tour. It’s just a no brainer to me between seeing Hot for Teacher or Dreams played live?
I’ll concede your point Rocko. I saw Dave in NYC probably 4 years ago and it was lame, mostly because the backup band was a VH cover band. I hope CF does really well. I’m definitely a Roth-era VH fan, but it’s not like I want the guys in CF to fail.

Tim5150 is the one that has to let go. There aint no VH anymore as we have known it. That hit parade that graced us last year was nothing but a cash grab, now that Al, Ed and Dave has enough green to last him for a few more years, what Tim, you expect new tunes????? Come on.
We have all waited around for years for these guys, and they have not delivered, straight up.
So dont rain on the parade of whats happening now, this is reality,a tangible, product, being a new band with members that were very much integral to the VH legacy, which many love and want to hear.
You dont? Well champ, easy. Dont harm your precious eyes and ears. DOnt read and dont listen.Well, gee that was easy wasnt it………..all better now?

The 2004 tour would have been a lot better if Eddie would have been sober, and you cant compare Hot for Teacher against Dreams, maybe Hot for Teacher and Humans Beings

Good point on the EVH boozing in ‘04. It was a sad state some night.
Skutch, I hear ya…Ed was definitely boozing from ‘78-’84…and beyond for that matter…but it appeared to be DEBILITATING in ‘04. Sammy said some nights he didn’t recognize what song Ed was starting because they were unrecognizable. Some nights were better than others, but on the whole it was a real mess on the guitar.
It kind of reminded me of a recording of ME playing VH on the guitar…the songs were great, and while the musicianship occassionally impressed me, I heard a LOT of F&*%-ups that really made it a C+ effort at best.
Sammy and Mike were also the only ones who seemed to be interested in interacting with the crowd too…it was wierd…because Eddie has always been that smiling, lovable guy on stage.

CF is out to have fun. Listen, in this era of music, we should be thankful that these guys are putting out real music being played on real instruments. Not everyone is going to like them, thats life, I doubt the guys in CF are losing sleep over the fact that not everyone is going to like them. So far I like it, I prefer Down the Drain. I dont get the whole comparison thing. Whoever said this is a VH replacement??? These guys are doing their own thing. I suppose when you have two guys in a band that were in VH togehter, sure there may be a VH vibe, just the same; chad is going to shine thru and you might here a littlt RHCP vibe, and certainly Satch is going to shine and we’ll here his vibe as well. Thats part of the band, each guy is going to bring in their own vibe, whats wrong with that? I don’t see why this has become a Dave ia better then Sammy thing. Let these guys do their thing, if you dont like it , that fine I’m not going to knock you for it. Thats the great thing about music there is so much of it out there, there is something for everyone
