Hi 5150. The Van Hagar era didn't sell anywhere near the DLR era. Total US sales according to RIAA are 34 million DLR era, 16 million Sammy plus 5 million live/greatest hits and .5 for VH3. Granted, there's 6 DLR studio albums versus 4 Sammy era albums.

I think we all get a kick out of this site now. That's why the same 15 guys are posting over and over.

I remember two or three years ago when this site was dead and finally the guy was going to shut it down. Look at us now, arguing like a bunch of school girls. Isn't it great?!

Pete, I'm dying to hear the new Mastodon album. They're great players, but not too pretentious like some other progressive type stuff. I'm looking forward to that. Other stuff I've bought recently is the new A Camp CD and Aimee Mann CD. Both are super mellow, but I like the writing alot. My friend just turned me onto Torche from out of Atlanta. They're pretty killer.

Agreed, Dave's last few CD have been less than stellar. I loved EEAS and Skyscraper and I think Vai was at his peak from '84-88. After that, he just sounded too produced to appeal to me. It was really sad that Jason Becker got ALS after A Lil Ain't Enough, because I think he and Roth could have kept making great music together. That album had a few great songs on it, but some throwaways too. :(

I haven't listened to Satch in probably a decade. He's a super nice guy and his Satchurator is a great little cheap distortion pedal. When I was listening to Satch alot, his self titled was my favorite. The songs just seemed less showy and had more emotion. Whatever. It's only rock and roll.

Is it just me or does anyone else out there think that Mike could have made a great lead singer for VH? I've heard him sing some of Daves song on several occasions and he can actually hit higher notes than Dave or Sammy.
