That’s just awesome.

unbelievable. I thought I knew this song back a forth. The noodling between every lick is amazing and gets somewhat buried in the album mixdown. A great example of why the sum of the parts make a whole. Already mentioned in the Dave lyric post that each part of the group needs eachother to create the magic. Bring on the Drum and Bass tracks !!!

This is infinitely more interesting than a voice track. But I think it highlights not only how important Dave’s voice is, but how awesome Alex’s drums were in this song. The Harley Davidson-sounding-double-bass-drum ASSAULT was and will always will be a staple for all of us car-dash thumpers!

Amazing! The most incredible thing about this recording got to be that all the guitar parts are in that one single take. Most players would overdub the hell out of a technical piece like HFTT, but Eddie just went in his studio and played the entire song in one go!

I’m a bit amazed at the timing difference between the guitar track and the final recording.

MR.EDWARD VAN HALEN!!!! NEED WE SAY MORE!!!!
December 5th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Is it safe to assume that these tracks are surfacing due to the Rock Band game having access to the master tracks?
December 5th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
PLEASE POST MORE OF THESE– THESE ARE LIKE NEW VAN HALEN SONGS!!!
December 5th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Now all we need is all the tracks so we can re mix the songs ourself. Just for fun of course. These tracks are awesome!

For a really cool listen, begin playing Ed’s guitar. Then as his guitar is playing, hit play on Dave’s singing link and listen to the two of them. Even though we all know this incredible music, it might take a second or two to synchronize the voice and music….but it’s so cool. You basically hear Hot For Teacher sans drums and bass. I agree with Dr Jay….how about the bass and drums…..good God!!!! Van Halen is the greatest rock band ever!!!!!!!!!

This is a guitar player’s dream. Geezus Ed, you’re the man….
December 5th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Eddie at his best ! Especially for those in the know … it was played on his very rare original 50’s Gibson Korina V, as he has been quoted several times stating such

Here’s a cool experiment. Open the hot4tchr youtubes in 3 different windows, each with Dave, Ed, and alex and start each one cue. You should get something close to the origianl without the bass. The funny thing is without bass, it still sounds much like the original. Seems that VH bassist doesn’t contribute much to this

So… I don’t know how you managed to get the masters, but please keep this up!!! For musicians who have idolized these guys for over a decade this sort of thing is a dream come true. Please post more if possible.
I love the raw energy. As someone recently pointed out in an Alex Van Halen related article today so many bands do everything to a click-track and the timing has to be absolutely perfect. Well, live no one pulls off perfect timing and there’s a certain human element to the timing being just a tad off here and there that I think make the music better.
One thing that made those early Van Halen records so good was that they were recorded in one take, recorded live in a studio setting. If the band ever records new material with Roth, let’s hope they go back to that form.

…I am SOOO going to figure out how to download this audio and import it into my studio and have a run at my own bass track…
…Of course, Mike Anthony kicks my ass on bass…
December 9th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
I am literally listening to this again and again… it’s funny, besides the hamer ons, it’s not that technical compared to some of his other solos, but it’s soooo cool sounding. Flying V all the way.

It’s so damn raw and nasty. Eddie was spot on. I learn something new as I hear that track played every time. This is why I was a fan all these years!

astounding, we DO need more…i have listened to this at least 30 times today and can’t possibly get enough, peering into that window of the iso-booth…but PLEASE do not post any versions with you fans out there playing along, out of respect…i’ve seen this happen with some of the beatles stuff, and it makes my stomach turn
